View Full Version : Starting a amatur team
Basically me and a few friends would like to start a team, we are all based around sunderland/newcastle. What process would we have to go through, what do we need to qualify, is there a tourney body based in the NE?
Any info would be ace!
Just read it, thanks for the link!
Has a new northen site been confirmed yet gasman?
I have a good friend that lives there so at least I can sort out free accomadation if his parents don't mind :p
Still annoying though :(
Sunderland/Newcastle area.... Where exactly you from? Where do you train/play if at all? The only decent 'scene' round here is at Point Blank at Darlington. Some of us use it for mid-week training, drills and stuff. Once a month or so tho DV8, Furion and most ppl in the NE area get together with a full field for a bit of 'streetball'. Worth checkin it out, ill let you know next time anythings on?
Alternative is... well Manchester...
I'm orginally from Shropshire/Powys lol but i'm at uni up here.
We play at topgun paintball since a few of us marshall there, nice little sup air field :)
Yeah i would be up for a bit of 'streetball' ;) how many people are involved?
Depends who turns up. Its been a bit sucky lately. On a good day, 25ish. Now your lucky to make two 7 man squads of decent players. Thing is, both Furion and DV8 have 2nd/kids teams and there the ones that tend to play most for some reason. Incase you dont know (im just going to assume you no nothing, easiest way) DV8 are a average domestic div1 team and Furion are around Div3/4 standard. But then you've also got the likes of myself, Neal from Phoenix and Dunny from Nexus who all play european/international events at Pro level.
So theres a fairly decent cross section of people kicking about.

That sounds ace to me if there are people of varying skill levels I should be able to learn without being outclassed at every turn!
It will take me another 3-4 weeks before I have a full set up again i'm happy with, but I would really enjoy just comming down, meeting and watching you guys play some good paintball since it can be frustrateing marshalling completely inexperianced players for the majourity of the time.
Add me to msn if you have it, if you like, to stay in touch AL
Kit listen to Al as he will point you in right direction to get into an existing team(much easier than starting your own) and he has been there and done that in paintball so use his experiance and connections to teams and venues.
And yes he is as good as they get:cool:
Will do Gasman :D I feel very fortunate to have found this forum now tbh :)

I used to play there a lot and train with topgun ages ago, I was just wondering if I knew you then. Im guessing not :)

Yeah that team broke up i'm afraid due to a few things from the bits and bobs i've heard.
JAY: Depends really. As i said before, used to be every tues and thurs but people got lazy recently. Its generally once/twice a month now whenever Neal and Dunny get time off work, so never can tell in advance.
KIT: As Gasman said, starting your team is always alot harder and more stressful than people first anticipate. In the past year, every team up here thats started has fallen apart with some people quitting alotgether and the remaining joining existing teams. My advice would be to just play and enjoy it for what it is, and approach the logistics of playin events when it matters, then u can decide who with and what not. Better off this way than gettin wound up to the point of hating paintball all together.

P.S. Gasman exagerates
