Hi all,
As the title implies I'm a newbie at this game with no equipment yet but hoping to change that very soon.
I would appreciate all tips and advice in the meantime with regard to where to shoot locally, suppliers, what marker to buy etc, etc...
Rgds,
Dave.
Just had a thought, as I'm into airguns, I have a 300bar 12 litre air cylinder, do or can markers be run off air? If so which ones as I would like to buy in kit form.
Thanks in advance,
Dave.

1st welcome to the world of paintball.
2nd The first thing you should buy is a good well fitting mask as thats the most important bit of equipment you need.
3rd yes you can run your marker off air in fact that is the best and most consistant propellant available for all markers.

Lucky so and so already having a 300 bar air cylinder. Can't belive you asked what suppliers we use when your already using the Fatbob site but there we go. Your going to have to set a budget first and decide how much you want to get into paintball. Theres rec ball where you basically run around the woods shooting each other and where everyone gets their first taste of paintball. Hopefully your nearest sites allows walk ons and players to use their own equipment otherwise find one that does.
Then theres tournament paintball where we run around bouncy castles shooting each other but faster than woods ball....usually. Start small work up. Get a good mask. If you can find a shop selling them great, go try them on see what fits best or ask at a site if they have a selection of masks and see what fits best. Make sure that it has a thermal lense or one available because fogging is a complete pain in the bum and once your playing you can hardly clean them off without the risk of going blind. I like the V-force googles. They have a nice tight fit, good coverage and easy to change lenses but might not be for you.
Then the marker............theres loads of them. Look on ebay, best place to find a decent starter kit 2nd hand that comes with a few pots, pair of googles (handy to keep a spare set) and bottle and doesn't cost the earth. Once you find something you like post a link on here and we'll tell you if it's any good or check the classifieds section. We like to help....sometimes. :D :D :D
Anyway good luck and Happy New Year that goes for all at Fatbobs too.

Thanks for the info.
I'm currently bidding on this on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3649711462&category=310&rd=1) . I have spoken to the seller who informs me he runs a site called Combat Zone and expects the marker to sell for £120. He can also supply me with an air cylinder and a fill rig for £60 & £30 respectively. I assume that's all I need to shoot either co2 or air, along with safety gear & ammo of course?
I also like the look of the combo's available @ Fatbob's like the Game Face / Diablo Bone Daddy RG DMS03, which is out of stock, or either the Morpheus Vertical B/L or Inferno Vertical B/L which are priced between £120-130. Then there's the bits required to run it on air which I assume would enable a more consistent & more reliable form of powering the marker?
Does anyone know where I can get 20oz co2 cylinders filled near to Blackburn in Lancashire? and can someone tell me of what shops are local or which are the closest?
Once again thanks in advance & for the help so far.
Rgds,
Dave.

thats an alright marker. I used to have one the step up from that one. Beware however that you may not be able to use it on some sites if it has the electro trigger. Main reason being that it is made for the american market (or mine was) and has the ability to fire on Full Automatic. Most places frown on that in the UK and you definately couldn't use it in a Tournament.
If you get a fill rig for your dive bottle and you have a screw in air bottle with a quick fill adaptor you can fill from your dive tank and simply screw in to the bottom line on the marker no adjustment required. As for Co2 fills this is usually only done on paintball sites before play and most will fill your bottle at the end of the day for a small charge some are a bit techey about this however but if your only using one site then it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the info, I will give it a miss and go for one of the other 3 on Fat Bob's combo page unless there's other's that you recommend?
What about a shop in Lancashire I could go and look at?
Where can I find a site in Lancashire?

Dave.

Up North above Merseyside and to the left of West Yorkshire.
Rgds,
Dave.
My first marker was the good old inferno, i got ripped off by paying about £250 for it as i didnt know squat about paintball, but now im a little older, and a little wiser, id highly reccoment the field inferno, I have a 2003 vertical feed autococker now and yet i still use my inferno as backup as its the easiest marker to strip down and clena, it never fails me, and it runs great on air, or co2, so thats my opinion, mind you, you could buy a brand new one for about £100 on some sites so shop around mate.good luck, and happy new year to you.

hi splatman
like you i am a newbie, but luckly i was bought a marker 4 crimbo its a bone daddy bl, not brilliant from wot i understand but not a bad starter marker. i to could use any help i can get at the mow so maybe we could swap info as we get it. form wot i can gather the JT ACCELERATOR 5.0 as a not bad enrty level marker, but my yet be a little fast, if you go 4 a slower 1 it will help you with your snap shooting as you might find with a faster marker you will just end up wasting paint and hitting nothing. still confused i am

Hi m8,
I've just noticed that Fat Bob's have reduced their prices, so I could stoop for the Bone Daddy GT ready to play kit for £155. Seen as I have a dive bottle I'll upgrade to run on air in the near future.

Dave.

From what I've read, air is the way to go as it gives far more consistent and accurate shots. There's also the added bonus of not worrying about the changes in the weather;) Once you've bought the kit needed to run on air, it'll be a darn sight more cheaper as well:D

Oh yeah Air is definately the way to go when you can afford the set up. It doesn't fluctuate the presure through the day like Co2 does when it goes from warm to cold and vice versa. Therefore air equals consistent accurate shots. If however you cant hit the side of a barn and 10 paces then theres no hope. Just throw paintballs at the opposing team.:D

you broke your marker again.?:D
I'm a newbie too and not only that I'm a girl going on my first paintball trip with 2 pro guys! I'm really nervous but i'm gonna b fully kitted out!i got all my stuff from fat bobs n i got the purple semi-auto gun!if any of you guys could give me some tips i would be very greatful as i'm very scared but excited too!watch out if you live in the beds region i'll be there!:p
Stacy,
All you need to remember is to get your Co2 bottle filed the day before you play. In this cold weather a freezing cold bottle (just filled) can reduce the performance of your marker.

not meaning to sound bad or anything but ive used a few markers im using an e-orracle at the moment and im in love lol but theres always gonna be a place in my heart for my lil inferno that gun never messed me about and it snipes suckers like a dream with a good barrel.... but co2 is gay...... its gonna fluctuate no matter what weather.... air is a great propellant. speed isnt everything its accuracy and consistancy all markers offer different ups and downs and im satisfied with my e-orracle... autocockers are where my heart is sod ur angels :p thats my two pennys worth anywho
