View Full Version : Mongoose barrels and compatibility
Hello
This is my first post here, been playing paintball about 9 months (woodland paintball), and have a mongoose marker. I have been reading up on barrels to improve accuracy, and have been trying to find any that are compatible. I have read that the mongoose is compatible with spyder barrels, is this correct? are there any other brands/types that are compatible?
Also does anyone have any knowledge of indoor/urban paintball arenas in Cambridgeshire or close to Cambridgeshire?
Cheers for your help
wayhey i also asked this question and the guys on here gave me some cracking advice! And that was not to bother!!! Not because the goose is a crap marker but because its a relativley cheap marker. Save your money for a better setup and use the mongoose in the mean time. I'm now the proud owner of an old school black magic autococker but i've still got and occasionally use my mongoose.
But if you deffinatley want a new barrel then yes they do accept the spyder thread but dont go overboard on a full barrel kit or anything like that!
If you want a new barrel and I'm using fatbobs as an example, you go into the barrel section, choose a brand you're interested in and there is a drop down chart of threads where you can find the thread you're looking for, for example
Smartparts All American:-
Tippmann A5
Tippmann 98
Autococker
Automag
Angel
Shocker
Spyder
Impulse
Indian creek
camper_no_1 has got it right, just save the money towards a better marker or for a new barrel for a better marker once you get one.

Well i have a diablo mongoose II and love it, ive got an empire 7 piece barrel kit on mine and omg its good! Yeah its a cheap marker but tbh, when u spend a little more money on it, its wtf good.
Yes the threading is spyder.
P.S i boiled my soup because of thie post :D
Do u have a mong II or I? Love to see this marker out there doing well cos all the bad things said about it. It really does rock!
I've got a mongoose II too, it's sat in my room gathering dust. Used it twice and has had less than 1000 balls through it as I used it on 2 punter days, then started walk-ons and bought an ion then an SP8, so it's been relagated to a back-up to my back-up.
don't get me wrong the goose was my 1st marker and it got me addicted! i still love it too bits buts i tend to use my cocker now and keep the goose in my kit bag as a backup or if a mate without a marker comes along with me.
I have a mongoose 1, and had it for about 8 months, using it around twice a month. It's nice, it works, and I like it. Have not really got the inclination to buy anything else until this breaks, which I don't see happening (judging by the hell i've put it through diving through foot-deep muddy bunkers!), it's kept me well, but I would like the extra accuracy a longer barrel gives.. Thats why I got me a nice 21inch barrel after reading these posts!
Thanks very much for the advice all, if I ever get a group together for a walk on event I may well invest in something else, but for the moment, I'm happy with this one :)
Asa side note, do your paintball sites allow you to take your own paint? Is there an 'industry standard' paint you must buy, or will any .68 cal paint be ok to take along? I know that reading through some sites don't allow you to bring your own (it cuts into profits which I understand), but isn't it more fun when you have an edge of (almost) unlimited paint? Afterall, why else would ebay offer boxes of paint for sale? ... bulk oprder of 8000 rounds for 90 quid.. bargain!
Cheers again everyone

oh dear me another "can i take by own paint " post
and yes there is an industry standard size for paintballs and its .86 i believe, although it does differ slightly from brand to brand
:) It's good infoo to have, besides, not really a 'can I take my paint' but 'what paint has an advantage'.. or thats what I meant it to say anyhow
no you cant take your own paint
and basically any paint that isnt site paint will be fairly good.
