View Full Version : Looking for a paintballing team in yorkshire
Hi
I have been playing paintball games on and off for 7 'ish' years and would really like to join a team. I live in South Yorkshire near the major motorways. Leeds is only 30 mins away. So if there is anyone who needs a new player or knows where I can join, please let me know. I am willing to travel.
Also any advice on new equipment would be really helpful. I have my eye on a few things at Fat Bobs but would like to know what people recommend.
Cheers
:)

There's no trials really so you can just turn up and play. We've got a range of ages and abilities and we're all pretty freindly! We've got training this weekend at elsham so if you're free pop down.
Any more info then pm DarkWarrior on here.
Did you say you have any of your own equipment?
I havent yet bought anything would prefer to get advice from people 'in the know' before i get anything.
Yeah may well come down what times you there from, to etc.

For gear you are best to put a price range so people will be able to guide you towards "best for money" products
I've got 500 quid put aside to start
What were you thinking of getting?
I was looking at the Proto 07 Rail gun (250 pounds) at Fat Bobs. I have heard that air is much better than CO2 so was looking in to that too. As far as Hoppers go and Masks go I havent really looked properly. I can stretch a bit more money if I have to say another hundred.
I also like the look of the ION Ready to Play Kit also from Fat Bobs.
Does anyone else know anymore teams round my area??
Proto rails are a minted choice, you can get air bottles for just short of £150 from fatbobs as you'll know and air is a lot easier on elecro markers dubbins, as for goggles there's a sticky some where that Gassy put up, think he did the same for hoppers but not sure, but theres three main models you'll see around such as Halo b's, Empire reloader b's and the viewloader evolution(also refered to as the 'egg') You can gaurantee there'll be lot's of help too from the others on here so you won't be stuck for ideas

Thanks for the help!!!! I know what you mean about swimming up to you its a bit damp down here!!!!!!! Will probably give you a call on Thursday early afternoon ish. My names Keith (so you know who the call will be from).
If anyone else wants to advise, please feel free any help is really appreciated!
woooooooo another barnsley baller.
on topic anyhoo... if you want to play sup air come join us at destiny. for woodsball just fly to powerplay at wakefield and get to know the folk there, they will know more than i on the subject.
the PMR is a great starter marker, i would take it over the ion just because it rips straight away. also air is a definate CO2 is getting phased out....slowly but it is, as for a hoppper go for a halo b or empire reloader b if your buget will stretch that far....if not buy and egg (viewloader eVLution II/III)
oh and top tip....paintball shop dont understand barnsley talk overly well.....you have to shout until they understand!!!!!!!

More advice, DON'T TELL THE MISSUS HOW MUCH EVERY THING COST

When I started out, I had an ion, running air, with a reloader. Had a set of i3 goggles as well. My next step was to buy the PMR07, bigger air bottle 1.5l (need much air for woodsball). I have now sold them both, and invested in a EuroMag.
I must say though, the PMR07 is the mutz nutz. It really ripped through the paint. It being an electronic trigger meant that if I go to a punter event, I had to use the site guns. So that is why I got the EuroMag. Still missing my PMR07 though...

This sunday at elsham, we get there for around 9 am and we finish about 5.
Theres also a YPC walkon on the 8th, thats always a good day rain or shine
if you do come to elsham there will be a wide range of markers for you to try...most people will be more than happy for you to have a play.....just keep it on the low that your from barnsley...theres already two of us....it will loook suspect....and as mat said in another thread..."there are no walk-ons in barnsley....things tend to walk off!" made me chuckle for a while
balf
Thanks for all the recent advice. I should be at Elsham dependant upon weather. May have to hire a boat if the weather forecast is right!!!! Will try and get to the Walk on, on the 8th too. Am speaking to Fat Bobs tomorrow with regards to buying the equipment. Am leaning towards the ION at the moment as its a better price for a starter kit. What do people think?????
i think you should come down and have a bash with some markers at elsham...i personally do not get on with angels or any of the dm/pm series...(but i would have a pmr over an ion), you may find that you dont like some markers too
ooooo ELLOW!! (sorry team america moment)
If you are wanting any other advice on what marker ect to get for your money please feel free to add me on msn with pornomunkie@hotmail.com and I will do my very best to help you.
The one thing that anyone in their right mind will tell you though is spend a decent amount on a mask, the only masks I would personally concider are
JT Proflex (my personaly favourate)
JT Flex 8
Vforce Profiler (second favourate)
Vforce Grills
Empire Events
Dye I3/I3 Pro
Proto Axis
Thats all I can think of for now, all have some good point and some bad points, it just depends which of the good and bad you prefer. If you like I can tell you personally what I do and dont like about the masks and I am sure other people can as well. But everyone has a preferance and the best way is to try them on at a shop
-Mat (your often friendly barnsley person since balf is a part timer who also likes in wakefield)
PS: Is that your pet rat in your photo?
