on windows XP

go to your start menu and select Run and put the following in.

\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Your PC will probably ask you what you want to open the file with , choose Notepad.

A Text file will open on the screen.

at the bottom of that file you need to enter the following.

83.138.155.160 www.p8ntballer-forums.com

there should be a TAB between the numbers and the www.

go to file menu in Notepad and select save , then close notepad.

you should then be able to access the forum.

If anyone wants to thank me , can they put me in touch with Chunk from the Clan ? I'm trying to buy some playing trousers off him.

Its didnt work for me, but I am at work on a VPN connection. Well done for great instructions. I get paid alot of money for writing them as I am an IT consltant. That was well done.

I'd guess your VPN would be tunning your web access via a proxy - thankfully I've got the ear of the ISA admin so got him to amend it at proxy level.

Ok, I've had a word with Beaker and the official word is that p8 will be back at some point between now and sometime, the nerds are on half rations and double beatings so keep checking. Apparently all the 'You need to pay teh billz' emails have been going to someone who left yonks ago, so everyone got a lovely surprise when it all went tits up. In the meantime there is a thing called outdoors but it mostly consists of water flying sideways at the mo so good luck with that, I'm sticking to the tested routine of rocking back and forward at my keyboard moaning and self abuse.
