Are you sure that shot came from within the field? The way the kid went down, you'd think Jeremy Salm was up in the tree line with a Barrat .50 (you'd have to have been around for a few years to know about that one).

As to age, I think 16 is a sensible age to start paintballing. Any younger and the little sh*tes are all ghey wannabe Agg gangsta's. They are too balling what Li'll Bow Wow is to Gangstar Rap.

but if you can get them to have the right attitude earlier on then they wont be complete pricks when theyre 16

That's a bit of a sweeping statement don't you think? I mean, i'm only 15 but i don't walk round acting like a complete pr!ck, and a lot of people my age don't. Most of the time adults think they know what kids are like and put us all under one banner, when most of us are perfectly reasonable.

wait till you have your own kids then mental cruelty becomes a sport:D :D :D i know 2 daughters one 13 the other16 god i love terrorizing their boyfriends ,and yes most of you teenage males are pricks of the first order with a chip on their shoulders, know this as have 14 year old son aswell .proper pain in the ass ,thinks he,s some hard ass, that was until his dad nailed him to the garage door and started throwing things at him:eek:  just to scare him honest;) so all youngsters should pass a respect test if they treat their elders with respect then they can play, if not then let the fun begin;) :D :D

will agree.. not all young teenagers (kids) are little s***s.. im 16.. you'll all call me a little s*** for the laughs but you know im not that bad;)

but on the other hand got a 13 year old sister who walks around going "aahh mate yer gay, ill get me crew on ya yer d***head"

if kids get outta line they should get belted.. that'd sort half the problem out

THIS IS NOT THE NATION, GROW UP THE LOT ON YA FFS

You're all trying to argue how mature and sensible you are and don't want to be lumped in with the usual stereo-typical view of teens todays, yet most (see what I did there?) are acting like complete tards.

I moved this thread into chit chat because it was getting, well, a bit chit chatty, carry on and it'll go.

You've all seen the "arguing on the internet" poster, take heed........

cool wet grass, cool wet grass, cool wet grass.

By nature I'm facetious and my post was indicative of this (I'm a narcissist too, but enough of the compliments).

To qualify my statements, and keep the thread at least sensibly on related topic:

There are, however many arguments why children should NOT be allowed to play Paintball. The most obvious of which is the "BOOOOOOM" headshot, or close range on field assassination, but other reasons exist.

I'm sure not all youngsters display negative or dysfunctional personalities, but a lot do. Whether it's acting the fool in hotels when playing abroad (Nurburging Millennium this year is a classic example) or the "gimme gimme gimme" culture that exists in a lot of young (and novice) tournament players, a distinct lack of maturity exists.

Now I can accept my view may be somewhat jaundiced by the antics of tournament players, but some of the youngsters discipline and respect for kit, the game and others is non-existent. On field cheating is absolutely endemic, and not of the smart variety. The odd arty wipe may be frowned upon, by there can be some real genius in cheating or shall we call it "gamesmanship". Watch a lot of kids play however, and it's constant dodgy run-throughs and playing on. Try that in any tournament with "decent" reffing and half your team's going to get pulled. Even if you kid yourself it's a percentage move, you're better off betting on quarters at roulette. Secondly you pull that sh*t against a decent team and it's bring the pain train; you will know what a Halo load of bullets feels like. Obviously with locked divisions and tournament the likelihood of ever playing a "proper" team is virtually nil, but why disadvantage yourself in the long run. Of course your not only cheating yourself but the other team, so why? It's a matter of respect.

And then there is "gimme free, sh*t, discounted bullets etc" I mean why? what have you ever done to qualify for a discount? Paintball's not a legitimate sport, so what have you ever done to further, promote or assist the retailer / manufacturer? To qualify for discounts you either need to be good or get good (or be mates with a distributor). There's no free lunch in paintball, and with global declining numbers the youngsters should be assessing what they do to deserve discounts. If you look at the effect the macro economy will have in the US especially on Paintball, there's no light at the end of the tunnel for the major firms. 2008 will likely be horrific, with effects of the sub-prime / credit crunch forcing down already declining numbers. I mean are parents going to give John-Boy 100 bucks to go play ball with or pay their sky rocketing mortgage? The kids are simply delusional. To draw a comparison, that's like me getting on the phone to Honda and saying give me a discount on some 225-35R 18's Potenza's because I've being doing traffic light grand prix's in my Type R.

Obviously not all kids are ungrateful gits, but enough are. It might be unfair to discriminate against all, but unless the "yoof" change their actions, Paintball is in for a rough ride.

Made some really good points there, and i fully agree, especially about the parents paying for paintball (that really p!sses me off). Never even thought about it from that point of view. I am sorry all for my little (ish rant earlier) And i wouldn't have been able to come up with a comeback as good or as long as that :)
