Hey guys, obviously i'm new around here, but would love to get into paintballing. After a referral from my friend who's semi-pro, he sent me here to ask for advice. I would just appreciate some advice on how to get started please guys!

Thanks a lot, Ryan.

First of all you will need some equipment so go down to Fat Bob's paintball shop and try before you buy.

They are open Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Information can be found here. http://www.fatbobspaintball.co.uk/

have you played before?

I would get a few rental games and see if you still enjoy it after a few games, then you can progress into a walk-on (borrow someones marker etc) and then if you still like that - buy your own.

You can get a whole package from like £100 nowadays.

If your looking at buying your equipment now try and have a look at

All great equipment for people who are starter's.

Try and get down to FatBob's, see what marker, goggles etc. you like, as it is personal preference. What is your budget?

Or even see if anyone has anything for sale from here

My Mate's called Alex Salmon, he said he started at Fat Bobs. I have played twice before, and am playing another rental a week on sunday. So I guess i'll take it a bit more seriously and see how it goes.

And so far I don't really have a budget as such, as I'd need to be guided. I understand the expenses, and that, within reason, isn't too much of a problem.

try p8ntballer-forums.com for second hand gear, personally I'd go for a Etek as a starter gun, fast, light relibable great stuff :D

So guys, should I just play for a while using the sites equipment, most probably at the YPC?

Try out other peoples markers (if they let you) and see which you like, then go for the equipment YOU feel most comfortable with.

That was a masterpeice :p

Bear in mind, if you have a team inmind you want to go to, check who there sposnered by, if there sponsered by Dye, then there is no point in getting a Planet Eclipse gun, you want be able to use it!!!

if you're staring out i doubt you'd get into a sponsored team from the off..

but i admire your optimism

I'm also starting from scratch can't really recommend using rental equipment, the amount of paint you waste is stupid, I used 100-150 trying to hit a fat arse sticking out behind a tree today (the marker I've bought is still in the post). Just think if you can knock 200 balls of a days play just by using a decent marker over the month that an extra days play.

Less waste=extra play
extra play=experience
experience=less waste

Try playing in a tournament, you normally use a hopper full just to keep someone pinned down.

i disagree with you there, all my team is on dm's all same model and each and every one feels different, this is due to upgrades and tweeking settings. so lets say this guy gets a dm 2nd hand for £350- £400 he will spend another £150 pounds before it will feel close to how mine feels and then there is still dwell ,sensitivity, debounce, rof ...... even the type of lube used makes a difference

If he's just starting out, I think settings, dwells, and bolts etc will be alien to him, so trying other peoples markers ie new players markers would be benificial just to give an idea as to what he should be looking at as a new player

when i started out a guy gave me is ion to try at the time i thought ace, then the next time i played i used a friends which was bog standard out of the box, and it was a major let down . all im saying is most peeps up there gats so when using some else's it proberly wont feel the same as a new or standard setup which can be a little misleading

Hey fella's, my first post here - so, how do?. Been reading various posts on this site for a few days now, but decided I may as well register and be able to ask a few bits myself. I've been to a couple of paintballing joe-public-punter days (at bawtry pbf and at a place in sheffield) and I'm interested in the walk-on days and turning it into more of an occasional hobby.

However I don't have the money to jump in and get myself all kitted out with a smart parts vibe, goggles, bottle, hopper, some gear to wear, pots, balls etc. Especially if I am unsure if it is something i'm going to enjoy and continue and then waste 2 or 3 hundred quid.

So, and this is where it relates to the quote above, I was wondering about popping down (or up technically since i live near Doncaster) to YPC when you have one of the walkon days just to see how it all is, have a quick natter with some of you if i can, maybe try a vibe or something similar aswell if someone has one, and if its possibly to rent the equipment from YPC (or anyone there with extra set of kit - i will pay you/them for this obviously) for just one short do to see for sure if its right for me. Do you think this would be possible?

Any help would be much appreciated.
