Hi..

Myself and a few friends are interested in playing Paintball on some of my land. We're contemplating buying about 6 Diablo Sabotage s/b's combo from FatBob.

Do any of you own this marker and if so what do you think of it?

Some of my friends could afford more expensive markers but we've agreed to all buy the same gun, at least to start with.

Your comments appreciated.

Thanks
Alex.

I will have the gun in about a week or less so I can post then but what I have heard is its a good gun stright shooter but needs a better barrel as current barrel is too loud but I have heard no reports of it chopping balls

Absolutely the best value for money marker ever made.
I played with one of these for yonks, never had any trouble whatsoever. It's ultra reliable, reasonably accurate with a stock barrel, consistent velocities & it'll take just about any amount of abuse. It is dead easy & cheap to upgrade too, all spider thread barrels fit, an expansion chamber is a good addition for around £20 (see Fat Bob's) For a first marker it's a good, cheap way of getting into the sport. You'll not regret it.
Incedently, most people who've had sabs & gone on to buy Cockers, Impys etc... keep 'em as back ups 'cos we always know that they'll work !:D :D :D

Yeah, but I actually fire a lot af paint, I don't just sneak around, hiding behind trees, trying to be unobtrusive so I can nip out at the last minute to claim all the glory.:D Anyway, you know me, 5 months is at least 1 yonk in my book !:D

I think i've just sold mine,
it has a 6 stage expantion chamber which i think is a must have option and a 32 degrees barrel which makes it a good reliable piece of kit the only reason i'm selling it is becouse i have 2 spyder markers

yep, a good starter marker. get a new barrel. fat bobs got a nice selection available. I got a expansion chamber with mine, but a regulator would be even better, especially for co2 which can fluctuate quite a bit.
but you cannot go wrong with the sabby

Im very glad this thread was created as i was just about to ask the same question about the Diablo Sabotage. Im just getting into the sport and was looking at the shop and found it very highly recommended, so im glad it was the same from other people too :)

got to agree with you all on this one my first marker was a sabby and it never let me down once. a after market barrel is a must have and the expantion chamber all make it loads better...
infact if you look in the classifieds mines up for sale as i'v gone on to a shocker...mine comes with c02 bottle nyte stick barrel which works perfect and expantion and drop forward etc, look in the classifieds and it's in there and for £100 it's a bargain.....all set up and ready to rock.......

Thanks for all your replies!

Having read many, many more positive reports and reviews about this gun ( I like doing my homework) I'm positive dear FatBob will be getting an order for 4 or more very soon.

The one remark consistent with most people reviews is that in standard trim it's a noisy gun. While this clearly isn't the end of the world, what can be done? Is there any fine tuning of the gun that can reduce the noise? or do you have to buy another barrel.
If I do have to get other barrels, which ones are any good for reducing the noise? I'm on a budget so hopefully some of those 20 quid ones will be adequate.

Thanks
Alex

personally i wouldnt worry bout the noise of the gun, anyone ya shoot at will most prob be splated in paint before they can react to where the sound of your marker is coming from and move outa the way... other than that i aint a clue how you could make in quieter, sorry :p

I put a Dye excel 14" barrel on my sab. & it did quieten it down a bit, You can get them in most shops for around £35. Sabs are a spider threads so a lot of barrels are available.
The only really quiet sab I've heard was fitted with a freak set. £LOTS!

Thanks for the advice peeps!

All being well I'll have Beanys Sabotage before too long and maybe even the one Father Jack has for sale (if he still has it)

Now for a fill station.

Cheers..

Look at its beauty!!

This gun sure does kick, I bought one last month and i have had absolutely no problems at all. I bought a nite stik and it makes it quiet enough to vanquish your enemies with ease and stealth. Even without the expansion chamber the sabby is a beautiful marker.

I went Paintballing with about 9 of my friends on Saturday and the site was using Tippman 98's and although we had a great time I was amazed at the poor accuracy of the markers!

I recently bought a Sabotage from someone on this forum on behalf of a friend and it's superb by comparisson, I can only assume that the site 98's must have needed an overhaul.

Btw RobTattoo you have a pm re: your sabby.

What expansion chambers and drop forwards fot the sabby? Is it worth getting these items?
What do they do?

To get to the point, it increases the accuracy of the marker.

and the roundabout answer ;) is....the x-chamber allows there to be a greater volume of gas behind the valve, and allows the co2 to expand, therefore turning from liquid to gas. This will help preserve your o-rings.

Your marker will therefore be more accurate because the velocity will be more consistant because:
- Greater volume of GASEOUS co2 behind the valve will reduce the chance of liquid co2 in the marker under rapid fire, and;
- Liquid co2 will make the marker fire hot;

There u go ;)

and yes, any x-chamber will fit as long as it has a ASA fitting......altho personally, a reg might be more useful.

Now there we go, he should be thoroughly confused by now :D muhahaha

However note that an x-chamber is no substitute for a properly fitted anti-syphon tube in your CO2 bottle! Without one, even the best x-chamber will be rendered useless after a few shots, as it will fill with co2 far quicker than it can expand it and release it into the marker.

Tom

Incidentally, liquid co2 will not only increase your average velocity, it will also really screw the consistancy (and thus ball-on-ball accuracy). So before you think about trying to just run off liquid and turning the vel adjuster down to compensate - dont bother. (And also you'll go through gas at 10x normal rate)

this is why i got to the point :p

Bleh - I wish people had been this helpful when I got my first marker. I was advised to save and get a cocker or shocker. I Decided I knew best and got a Spyder then ended up buying a cocker 3 months later.

Err, not sure what my point is, I guess whats good fir the goose isn't necessarily good for the gander, or something like that. All I mean is if you think you are serious and money is tight, you might be better off saving to get a good long term investment.

Please, noone take this in any sort of bad or non-constructive way, it's just me telling my experience.
