View Full Version : Shoreline presents Armo-Geddon IV - The Beginning at YPC
http://i43.tinypic.com/29uvyia.jpg
Shoreline are pleased to announce the fourth instalment of Armo-Geddon.
The ultimate battle between Good & Evil is almost upon us, the fourth in the series and Evil want to even the score... Armo-Geddon is coming and to save on the mass destruction normally associated with such biblical events, again it will be fought on a paintball field in Yorkshire. As you do!
Armo-Geddon IV - The Beginning will take place this summer on Sunday 19th July. In a change to previous years, this years event will be held at the outstanding Yorkshire Paintball Centre (http://www.ypc.co.uk), acknowledged as one of the best sites in the country. New developments at YPC over the past couple of years have resulted in an extraordinary in-game bridge feature as well as expanded safe area facilities, covered individual staging and new playing areas.
Leading the forces of Evil will be Deamonic prime Gary 'Garage' London of Nemesis Scenario Team.
Leading the forces of Good will be Alex 'TripleCC' Carney of Warren Wood Rangers.
Both leaders will be working closely with two YPC regulars who will be tasked with passing on their local knowledge of the site.
For those who enjoy a shandy the night before a game, we'll be organising an attempt at the world famous Micklegate Run in York on the Saturday night.
Camping will not be available on site. However a quick Google search for 'Camp sites Escrick' will bring up plenty of options near to the site itself.
The site will open at 7.30 am and registration will be open under way immediately.
Game briefing will take place at 9.30am
Game will start at 10am - no exceptions.
Game end will be 4pm and player prizes and presentations no later than 4.30pm
For the first time, Shoreline will be implementing the same compulsory Air Safety Training that YPC has been operating for some time.
In order to use the site air system to fill your bottle, you must have completed the Air Safety Training. The Air Safety Training takes approximately 30 minutes and the laminated pass you receive at the end will be valid for one year.
If you do not allow enough time in the morning to complete the Air Safety Training, you will not be able to fill your bottle. So please, arrive half an hour earlier than you usually would for an event and take the training. It's not a lot to ask and it may just save your life!
Event information and tickets can be found in the 'Event's section on our website (http://www.shorelineoutdoor.com).
Event ticket price is £45.
We are offering a 10% discount for UKPSF members. Please ensure that you purchase the correct ticket.
As part of our ongoing commitment to encourage new players into paintball, Shoreline's Bring A Mate (BAM) campaign will be in operation. BAM tickets for this event are £55 which includes all the rental equipment as well as 500 paintballs. So, if you have a friend, neighbour, workmate or relative who is interested in seeing for themselves what you get up to at paintball events - this is the ideal opportunity.
There is a processing fee of 90p per ticket.
This event will be run under the new UK Scenario Paintball Community guidelines. A full player pack will be published prior to the game with event specific information, general game rules and all relevant information.
If you have any queries please email info at shorelinepaintball.com or PM Timboy or Wickham.
With a move to the summer, an outstanding site and some tricks up our sleeves, we're confident that this years Armo-Geddon will be the best yet.
See you there.
Tim & Lee.

Format; The game will be continual play from 10am till 4pm, kill shots will be counted and nurses will be in the field to re-spawn players that have been shot.

What actually is this?
like a big game?
you haven't really said exactly what it is in your first post

yep it's a Big Game and should be an absolute corker of a game as Wickam and Timboy know what they're doing and the YPC site will be spot-on

do you get paint with the ticket or do you have to buy the paint sepretly ?
It's a big game, for the last three years it has been running at another venue but we decided to move it to York. It has been very succesful over the years and has become well known for the use of in game pyrotechnics (we blow stuff up around you as you play).
Check out this video of the 2007 game, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wjWtjCoics 2:17in for the pyro ;)
do you get paint with the ticket or do you have to buy the paint sepretly ?It is a BYO event but we ask players to support the traders on site, both FatBobs and BZ will be selling reasonably priced high quality paint so we'd encourage you to support the traders that are supporting the event.
There is no paint included except for the BAM (Bring a mate) tickets which include 500.

I cant wait for this, gunna be weird seeing the BZ truck at YPC, lol.
Going to be fun finding somewhere to put it.
Hey Bod can you volunteer us to get `all blowd up` again :D:cool::D
hi lads can you pick which side or are you on or are the sides sorted out when you get there thanks for the info

As many of you will know, YPC held the UK record for number of players attending a game like this a few years ago - so this will be nothing new to the site and staff and we're looking forward to working with them. All things considered, it should be a good show.
This looks good Posibally the first big game i attend. Still need my gun :( Will have it for next walk on :)
hi lads can you pick which side or are you on or are the sides sorted out when you get there thanks for the info
Normally with these type of games you pick which side you want to be on when you book your ticket, however sometimes people get asked to swap sides to even things up on the day.
Bod is right, when you buy your ticket you can select Good or Evil from a drop down box. If the sides are uneven by more than 5% then we will generally move players over to even up the sides and ensure a good fair fight. The players to be moved will always be those booking in on the day, and if required the last players to book in.
In short the best way to ensure you are definately going to play on your chosen side is to book in early.

hey guys this sounds awesome, do you have any idea of how many will be playing at the event?
Hey, Was this event originally held at the Harrogate Paintball Center? (HPC?)
If it was I think I've been to this event before and the pyro you guys lay on for the game is incredible. The whole place just shakes and the pyro is so loud and big it feels like real bombs are going off! Prepare to sh** your self's ;)
Again if this was held at HPC and is the event i went to, there are prizes to be won? I think i won a tac vest - and that was my first none punter day game! This still going?
Might have to look into heading over to this, thoroughly enjoyed last time, and i'm a supair player!
Brad,
(P/S Maybe BradloPhotography could be interested in getting pics from the event? See Sig! :D)
Aye - for the first three years, Armo-Geddon was held at HPC.
You are right, we tend to get quite a few prizes and bits and bobs to give away and put a lot of effort into the game for the players (props, pyro etc).
With the switch to YPC this year, it'll be even better.
hey guys this sounds awesome, do you have any idea of how many will be playing at the event?Yeah I reckon that the number of people who buy tickets will be directly proportional to the number of people who turn up...
Seriously, Shoreline events usually have a good showing with one of our walk-ons bringing in over 180 players, this event (Armo-Geddon) has grown year on year and when you add that to the number of regular walk on players at YPC then the total is anyones guess.
Final numbers will only be known on the day and any event organiser who quotes X hundred players is full of hype. One thing I will say is that with YPC holding the highest attendance figure record for quite a few years not so long ago, coupled with Shorelines following of loyal customers will mean that the players that do turn up are promised an excellently run event that everyone will enjoy.
Bradlo, PM me about event photography...

are they limiting the amount of players attending this event ?
When we spoke to Andy on our last visit to the site we discussed that the safe areas and facilities could handle over 200 players, if numbers start getting that high we can extend the safe areas with marquees and bring in extra facilities. So essentially we believe the site could handle more than 300 if required, but to answer your question, no there is no cap at present.

Ok mate, thanks a lot!

Guys
Everyone who has so far purchased a UKPSF discounted ticket has been emailed by Shoreline with a request for their UKPSF membership number. This is so that we can complete the verification process with the UKPSF.
If you have purchased a UKPSF discounted ticket - please ensure that you reply to the email that has been sent to you.
Cheers!
Any players booked in for this event have been offered a FREE walk-on place at the sites July walk-on...
http://www.talkpaintball.com/showthread.php?p=215467#post215467
The site has walk-ons every month and is where I first started playing walk-ons. The air safety training will also be carried out at the walk-on so you can avoid the queues on the day, get a sneaky peek at the field layout, meet some great players and have a laugh at the same time.
See you there

I would just like to say as a marshall that it was a really enjoyable day and a pleasure to see the players self restrained in the game... that is no overballing... no over chronoing... everyone who was asked to chrono did without an argument...
Fantastic day to all the guys. and thanks for all the paint at the end when I was the only person left on the bridge!!!

I take my hat off to Shoreline, who have now perfected the Scenario event.
Look forward to the Sword and the Rings.

Thanks to both Shoreline and the staff at YPC, cant really think on how the day could have been improved.

Brilliant day to Marshall. I have a video of the last battle just sorting the upload I will then link it for all.
Firstly, thanks for all the comments. It means a lot to Lee and myself and the girls to see the feedback when an event goes well.
Also thanks to all the players who attended. The play and atmosphere were the very best advert that you could get for scenario paintball.
Again, a public thank you to Andy Sables for use of the site and for being instrumental in the new push for Air Safety which we at Shoreline are pleased to be able to help. Also to BOD for all the work in getting the site ready and for all the other unseen effort that he put in.....and yes it was me who took my mask off in the air refill area - pure brain fart!
Last thank you to the marshalls. There are obviously a lot of very switched on and very professional marshalls at YPC and what's almost just as important - every single one of the marshalls who worked with us over the weekend were decent guys.
The booking system for the event again worked well and registration seemed fairly efficient.
Every single air bottle used at the event was checked, inspected and recorded.
Every single player at the event underwent Air Safety Training where necessary.
Every single player at the event provided a recorded chrono reading.
There was a lot going on in the morning prior to the game start, but with the cooperation of all the players, it was all completed quickly and efficiently and the game started on time. We thank the players for that.
Evil won convincingly on the score sheet and for long periods dominated the field. But Good made some terrific scraps and never gave in. What won the game for Evil was simple mathematics - more players in the field for longer.
We did monkey with the game slightly by adjusting the start points for the Good team. As the game coordinator, it's often a tough call between not wanting to influence the game too much - but ensuring that everyone gets to play some decent paintball. In hindsight, we probably got the game adjustments about right. They didn't effect the outcome, but did make for a better game of paintball.
The final game was great. Some players may have noticed that there was less pyro than the previous years. This was simply because the bridge is a brand new structure and we were using a brand new site of the event. It would have been disrespectful to push the envelope pyro wise in such circumstances. However, anyone standing next to me on the bridge when the bangs went off will confirm that it rattled the teeth and relaxed the bum.
Caps need to be doffed to Fat Bobs, BZ and Tippmann for the prizes - the money raised is going to an excellent cause and was passed to Frostie - good luck with your trip fella.
So, all in all, probably one of the slickest events that we've put on in the past year or so made all the better by the approach of the players. As Event Organisers we try to provide a decent environment - but it's the players who make games.
Everyone would have noticed the massive amount of chrono'ing that we operated. As at Against All Odds, the more chrono'ing we do - the more worrying the results. The hottest gun we found was firing at 330fps. At one point, I chrono'd six players in the field standing next to each other and EVERY one of the six were hot.
I have absolutely no doubt that the hot guns were accidental in the overwhelming majority of cases - but ultimately we're all responsible for the kit we use.
At a time when paintball is encouraging and welcoming kids into the game and us as a company, ourselves new players via the BAM system - experienced players running around shooting these new introductions at 330fps simply isn't acceptable. The excuse that "...I chrono'd earlier and it was fine..." is also not acceptable. As players we all need to know our equipment and how the environment can effect it's performance. We'll start to pull together some expert info on this subject and provide it in future player packs and will look at bringing in penalties for hot guns to try and nip the problem in the bud. But we'll make no apologies for the massive chrono effort at Armo4 and for future games.
I would also like to ask the guys who are contacting Andy directly regarding the Air Safety Training to hold their horses for a couple of days. The Air Training trialled at Armo4 is part of a much bigger program that is being launched later this week. If you can hold back a couple of days - all will become clear. Thanks.
All in all guys, a very tiring but rewarding event and it's just brilliant to see some of the feedback - makes me and Lee smile for days!
Thank you all - and see you at ThunderDome next month.
p.s. - i'll put pics up tomorrow - too tired tonight.
...and thanks to the joys of insomnia:

Just a note to all who donated (bidded on the auction) to the Princes Trust at Armogeddon.
The Funds have been uploaded now by a collegue of mine and as such also claimed Gift Aid. Because of this, the total raised was not £170, but £217.95.
Many thanks to the vendors who donated the prizes - witout your support this auction would not have been possible.
To date I have managed to raise £1987.31 plus £224.23 Gift aid... Still some way to go - thanks to all who hve already donated.

The SP8 that I bought is now up for sale on UKS, I know this isn't usual but to avoid confusion of posting in more than one forum, if you'd like to make a bid please go to; http://www.ukscenario.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=9973&p=118540
