View Full Version : Halo B, interesting problem

I recieved my shiny new Halo B from fat bobs last week, it ran fine at my regular walk-on, everything was great. I then took it to the walk on at congleton, experienced a break in the hopper and from there, it all went a bit pear shaped... After cleaning out the hopper, checking the eye (or whatever that sensor is exactly) and putting it all back together again, it started to act a little oddly.

So here we go, After turning it on the hopper feeds until the ball stack is full and the spring is tensioned, however, after this the whole thing just humms, quietly. at first I thought the motor was getting stuck on, and so it would be trying to feed continuously, however, to my dismay, the motor wouldn't spin again until the hopper was turned off and back on again. I could fire off everything in the stack, the spring would un-wind, but after that all I got out of the hopper was this strange humming sound.

I have used 3 different sets of batteries, still with no avail, I have re-cleaned it, checked all the connections, has anybody got any ideas?

Thanks

I have had the humming sound, but I found it was with black-shelled paint. The sound was the motor trying to spin - the sensor couldn't see the black shell and thus thought it needed to spin more balls into the neck.

I have a vague memory of there being different software versions in the halo, with one version automatically turning off after a while if it thinks its empty (presumably to save batteries). This strikes me as a possibility.

Failing that, are you sure you've reassembled everything correctly (ie the spinning bit isnt jammed) and that all the connectors are connected securely?

If all else fails, drop an email to Odessys technical support (i cant remember the address but search for odessy halo on google and youll find it). They have a very good reputation for customer relations and it may well be a well known and easily solved problem.

PS You can use your finger up the feed neck to fool the halo into thinking balls are there - ie to trouble shoot it.

Hmmm, no I was using bright orange shelled paint, the paddles aint jammed, it was feeding up to the point of the stack being full, then just a steady humming, even when the pressure on the stack is released, its not like the motor is continueing to spin, becuase then at least new balls would be fed down the tube instead of it sitting there while my marker starved :) Ahh well. I'll drop a line to Oddesy and seee what they rekon.

Cheers bud

If you don't manage to find the problem, please send the hopper back and we will replace it for a brand new one.

Still not found the problem, got in touch with the oddesy, but no real answer yet. If it cant be resolved, I'll start removing the stickers... who would I need to get in touch with regarding sending it back? but of course, only if it gets to that.

I think I was there! Have you just got yourself an Orracle with E Blade, wear Dye gear?

A guy had the same problem at Congleton and switched to a Revolution

Cannot help you with your problem, though!

The revvie had a broken lid tho

The Orracle is running sweet, played my first tourny with it last sunday, it hurt like hell, and I sent the halo back yesterday, hoping to hear something soon :)
