Before anyone starts, this post is absolutely genuine and is not a wind up.

Last year during the winter we found large paw prints on the old Quad track in the mud. Much bigger than a dog, but thought nothing of it.

Then this year during a game, a couple of members of Panic Attack and a number of players saw a large cat, around panther size in the field adjacent to the wood.

Then a couple of months ago Bill, the site manager is convinced he saw a Kangeroo in the wood.

A couple of weeks ago, whilst someone was leaving the site, they saw an Ostrich running along side their car, looking into the driver side window in excess of 30mph. Giving them the fright of their life.

Again, all of the above is absolutely true and not a wind up.

I've had some of the mushrooms from behind the fort as well:D  .
However, not sure about the cats ,ostriches etc.,But the Kangaroo might have some basis in truth as it may not have been a `roo but a WALLABYS . There are wild colonys of WALLABYS in the UK ,some I believe in the Peak District National Park and some on the North Yorks moors. These animals are escaped\released animals that have bred, the colonys are well documented.
If you're serious about this why not contact the Fortean Times ,as it'll get a plug in their mag for you.;)

I think there is an Ostrich farm somewhere near, we have had players from there in the past, so one may have escped.

It's the big cat thats the puzzler

This is where I turn into a nerd,ABC's(Alien Big Cats,I warned you) are getting to be very common sightings, and yet nobodys ever caught one or gathered any conclusive evidence to back up a sighting. Most sightings I've read about has turned out to be a dog, badly video'd cat, hoax etc.
Thats not to say ABC's aren't possible in this country as I posted earlier non indiginous animals are not uncommon in the wild in the UK,not only WALLABYS,but European Mountain Goats,Mink and the most common , the Grey Squirel all introduced or released into the wild by man,so its more than possible that in some rural areas like Dartmoor that, say Pumas,Panthers and the like could have been released to breed by irresponsible people,as I doubt an escaped big cat would find its way to one of these remote areas on its own.

Philip

I ran over a grey squirral on wednesday afternoon during my driving lesson....ooops

fleisher
13-04-2003, 22:46
Grey squirels are classed as vermin anyway Philip, tree rats,so you've done the eco system some good:D ,however if it'd been a red one you'd have been "banged up" as they're a protected species.I am the David Attenborough of paintball:rolleyes:

Philip
13-04-2003, 22:49
Yeah, i knew about the grey and red, but the instructor wasn't impressed about the bits of squiral in the wheel arch :D

Fatbob,

I was marshelling on the same field as the Panic Attack on te day they saw the big black cat. The thing is one admited later o that in fact it was tabby? Although it was 3ft tall? Perhaps you have a genetic research centre close by?

Don't you mean wallabys ? A wombat looks more like a coypu or capybara nowt like a 'roo.

FaDeH
14-04-2003, 13:55
There has been a lot of speculation about the big panthers etc.

Truth is that people used to keep these big cats as pets but when the law came out some what years ago, these owners released them out in the countryside of the UK, people have admitted this on the news and the big cat experts has also released several species of big cats so it isn't a mystery.

Id set up a decent net around your perimeter to keep people safe during paintball :)

Personally, i dont think that the paintballer is at risk here. We all know that when a pheasant or similar animal is caught up in the crossfire of a heated game, that it "gets some", shouldnt be there, collateral damage etc. oh well, just my opinion. I think a panther wouldnt stick around if it had paintball guns making loud noises and lunatics shooting it its general direction. i think that panther, big cat whatever should be protected from us !

did you know, that all bird's eggs, including the ostrich are exactly the same proportions ? It doesn't matter how big they are, they are all proportionately identical.
I'm as very drunk so this probably doesn't make any sense, or be related to the topic in any way !

I wouldnt have beleived my own eyes because ive had more mushys in my time than i care to remember and it could have always been a crazy ass flashback thank god Damien saw it to or i might have had to visit the guys in the white coats again god dam straight jackets piss me off:D

Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down to the pond and chasing bluegills and tommycocks. This shark, swallow you whole. No shakin', no tenderizin', down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.

You know how there's always big mounds of earth appearing all over the place, it's the moles i'd be worried about, sneaky little buggers.4270

one of the funniest things ive witnessed on a painball site... a rabbit bolted accross beirut in the middle of a game ran up a mound and launched itself almost on top of a punter who was laid behind. The punter litterally crapped himself and was in total shock that this rabbit had launched itself at him, he then proceeded to quickly stand, scream like a little girl and take a shot to the back of the head. At this point he was stood shaking like a s**tting dog and in the middle of his blue aired swearfest shot at the rabbit and hit it on the arse. The rabbit just sat there and took it like more of a man than the punter, it then calmly and slowly wandered off leaving the punter still stood and dazed to the point i had to help him off the field.

This was taken of me at YPC June 2009 and look there is 20-20 i think hiding, so you see its quite easy to mistake players for animals.
