View Full Version : what to do next
hi
i need some advice. i'm 16 years old and love paintballing. i plan to get a maker as i have now been playing for arond 4 years on and off. I need help in what to do next i would like to try and get into a team but don't know how to go about it!!:D
First buy a decent well fitting mask! Then look on www.p8ntballer-forums.com under classified and buy a cheap second hand impulse or cocker! Get a 12v revvy and your good to go play some tourney ball! Just saunter along to a tourney nearest you have a watch speak to some people and get some names and numbers! Then pimp urself out to the best paying team ;)

Ah now Lewis its that age old question asked time and time again.;)
Right to start off where is Gloucester? I'm at a loss at where it is apart from Dr Foster went there. Before you Buy a Marker you need to ask yourself how far you want to take your hobby? Do you want to leave it as a hobby or do you want to consider it as a fully fledged sport? If you are happy with keeping it as a hobby then a entry level marker will do you, these start at around £100 but you have to consider that you will alsoi need the rest of the gear to go with it like Googles squegies, battle packs etc if you haven't got them already. Once you have your own marker you can start going to walkons and mixing it with others with thier own gear.
If you are looking at taking it up to the next level you need to be looking at getting a decent tourney level marker. You have two options here. the first is you can buy a second hand marker of another player, before you scoff this is generally the best way to start out because you get a lot of marker for your money and you generally find the gun has been loved and cared for. The other option is to buy new, you can get basic impulses for around £400 and these will mix it with anything on the market and you can always buy upgrades for it at a later date. Or if you are minted you can always go for the all singing all dancing marker like a e-cocker, e-mag or angel.
Next finding a team, you will probaly find that your local site has a team playing out of there. You'll know them because they walk around like primadonnas. But don't be put off by them you will probaly find that they are approachable and they will then tell you if they are recruiting or if not a team which is. Now if they are recruiting they will either take you on there and then or give you a try-out. Don't be put off by the fact you have to try-out though basicly they are trying to accertain what level of play you are at and where on the feild you are suited. Its a well known fact that a lot of teams will take somebody on with next to know skill but plenty of enthusiasim as they can then mould them into the player they require.
But never try to form your own team you need to join an established team in order to find out how it all works.
So the balls in your court where do you want to go. If you make it into the tourney scene you owe me a drink for letting you in on this info;) ;)
with coaching from other teams, our new team is just starting out, so campaign power red have been very kind in letting us train with them! not bad!
