View Full Version : some help please
lo all :)
i have recently got the paintball bug and would like some advice on a decent marker to upgrade to, i currently have a spyder xtra (sent to me by a cousin in america) which has an air leak :( i have also just got my new barrel from fatbobs :) (empire twister which is bloody accurate). Anyway back to what to upgrade to, i have shortlisted 3 markers that r within my budget range and they r :
jt excellerator 6 , silver bullet or the game face e-rex elite which r all priced at roughly the same. I am liking the e-rex better out of the 3 but would like some advice from any1 who may have used 1 or all 3 of these markers, any help would be gr8 :)
also can some1 tell me the difference between the red and black o'rings for my spyder? i assume they r coloured for a reason.
thx for any help u can give me :) :D
Never used the erex but its meant to be good :). Or if u can afford a bit more, cockers are really upgradeable too.
As I haven't used any of the 3 u menton, then thats all the help I can give. I'm sure Fat Bob would be able to tell you the pros and cons of each tho!

where is the air leak coming from, I had two spyders when i first started and i managed to fix air leaks from both.
if not, go with the e rex, i have it on very good authority that they are the dogs nads. fact.
13 bps with no chopping, now thats good going.
if youve heard of a matrix, then this is the matrix's baby brother, and everybit as capable.

the leak is coming from the barrel:( so it could be the cup seal, which seems like its made out of solid plastic. I know lapco make a replacement cup seal that is made from a softer material but i cant find anywhere in the uk that sells them:( and i wont pay 55 dollars to ship a 4 dollar item from the usa to the uk.
also im trying to find a site to come and play with my marker but the 1's local to london all say no u cant use ur own marker:confused: wtf is that all about? it makes me sad

My local site isMayhem paintball (http://www.mayhem-paintball.co.uk/) It is in Essex (nr Loughton/M11). They let us use our own markers, and the safety there is the dogs dangaly bits. There are also a company called Delta force (Upminster), which Nighthawk marshelled for. I belive they let you use your own kit, but don't quote me on it. Better off giving him a IM. I didn't think much on the site, but it may have improved:confused:They only had Co2, & I don't think they had plans for air.
The leak from your gun is most definately the cup seal, you could try squirting some silicone spray into the bottom line before you screw the bottle in, then fire the gun, the silicone should flush away the dirt / debris on the seal. Alternatively take out the cup seal and give it a really good clean. We find that placing them in very hot water helps to loosen any dirt.
As for a new gun, we don't sell the JT, so can't say much about it.
The silver bullet is really nice and the e-rex guns have really impressed us with fantastic build quality and rate of fire.
Basically choose whichever you like the look of best, we have sold loads of each and not yet had one back for repair.
Hope this helps

Andy, you may remember my spyder, that was leaking from the barrel. sounds like the same problem which is easily reparable.
take out the cup seal. there was a little round plastic/rubber clear washer that is in your spares kit, now unscrew the metal rod from the cupseal and place this clear tiny washer between the metal rod and the cupseal, this will ensure a better seal and will prevent it from leaking.
i know its not comprehensive, but thats the best explanation i can give without pictures

I'd stay away from JT's as I never heard anybody say anything good about them.
i dont have any plastic/rubber washer in my spares kit only a allen key and a mutilated o'ring:( i have cleaned the cup seal in hot water as suggested and the leak is still there but is a lot slower now:) thx 4 the help guys:cool:
