One of the best kept secrets of the past few months landed in the shop today.

New from National Paintball, it's a 9000psi bottle and it retalis for ₤79.99.

Now before everyone says you can't fill to 9000psi, think again.

The reg is called a multiplier reg and is covered by more patents than you can shake a stick at. Basically as the bottle is filling, a certain amount of air is diverted into the multiplier chamber which turns a circular valve. This acts as a mini compressor and increases the overall pressure inside the bottle.

We tested the bottle at the site today. To start with we could only get 5800psi into the bottle. This we thought was good considering our bank was pressurised up to 4380psi. We then turned the flow on the site system right down making the fill time much longer. This slow down in filling gave us a fill in the new bottle of 8400psi.

The new bottles are the same size and weight as a standard PMI 1.1L fibre bottle, the valve is just a little larger.

Connecting to a Smart Parts Ion, the Ion was very consistent with only +-4fps. From the 8400psi fill we managed 3700 shots before the guage reached 200psi.

For further info please either visit the shop or give us a call.

Aye Carumba.

Sound like a hell of a system, how much larger is the reg?

Colin you knob - Andy has them in stock already!!

We heard about this. . . . I thought it was to be launched at MS Germany in a few weeks?

They are just slightly thicker at the top.

These bottles are going to change the face of tournament paintball.

I have a sample of the 0.3L bottle which is good for around 1000 shots from an efficient marker. For those of you who remember them, the 0.3L bottle is the same size as a 3.5oz Co2 cylinder (about the same size as an expansion chamber)

40 of the new bottles were brought into the country and we got the lot. We have permission from National to let the first 20 go for half price as a pre launch offer.

That's ₤40 for a 1.1L 9000psi fibre bottle.

These 20 will be on a strictly first come first served basis. First 20 people who phone or call into the shop only.

omg thats cool, shame i sold my ion :(

just a quick question, with all this fancy kit inside wont the recharge or flow rate be slow? mind kinda boggles trying to workout how theyd manage that... still guess thats why i dont design air systems for a living!

My guess, no.

The inbuilt "mini compressor" should be off to the side of the main flow of air, and in order for it to do it's job it shoiuld also be rigged up with a one way system so in theory the main output of air to your marker would still only be going through a normal reg.

But what do I know

Or everything  if it's not on an isolated one way system the pyhsics don't work, how else would a 4500 system be able to charge to 9000 psi?

im not sure maybe it has a mechanical step up transformer

will ger some pics up later, im at work at the moment, so no camera handy. looks like a standard reg with like a buldge on the side (which holds the compressor unit)

Woo hoo the joys of living 10 mins from the shop!!!

I Was on Nights at work when i read this so got up early to go grab one (Andy even got it filled for me :D ) Got a box of paint and took it for a test drive.

Wicked

what do you mean "as close to midnight as posible"? how is 8:39 as close as posible. Aprils fools can't be done before midnight. I'm sorry, you should give free air bottles away to all the people you tricked

PLEASE :)

Still am.
Thats the problem with a half arsed engineering / techie backgound.

The theory is sound, mini compressor inline with a one way reduction system.

the only problems are the size of the thing and the heat it would generate, oh and having to have additional moisture traps on board.

I'm off to get pished, contemplate the meaning of life and try and get this stupid idea out of my head.

Actually it got me thinking. If you created a venturi for the pre dried air to pass through (remember the compressors remove the moisture from the air during compressing). As the air passed through the venturi, the pressure would increase and the temperature would actually decrease without risk of icing. This super cooled air would pass into the bottle. As the air warmed, the pressure would increase.

Overnight a bottle will loose about 10% pressure due to cooling. If the air was super cooled I bet you could get a 50% increase in pressure. (6500 psi or so)

I know this thread is an April fool, and although 9000 psi would be useful there is something bigger in the pipeline! Research in the US has shown the way we use HPA at the moment is about to change (well within 5 years) as initial tests in the US into SOLID air are looking promising. Reuters (do a search, i'm lazy) news agency reports that it's being developed mainly for the medical industry and believe it or not underwater welding of all things. The Solid Air comes in handy ice cube sized chunks which once 'melted' or whatever term explains the change from solid to gas (there is no mid 'liquid' stage for air) gives 60 cubic inches of air...thats nearly a 1.1 bottle full! The cubes come sealed in guar gum, which stops the air 'melting' until you want it. There is a catalyst that strips the gum away: (boron or somthing or other chloride) and you only need .05 ml of this catalyst to dissolve a 1cm chunk of solid air.

So boys and girls, with all the clever brains we have in paintball i'm guessing some sort of solid air system will soon be developed and instead of being asked 3000 or 4500 psi, we'll have H-Pac asking 'One lump or Two'?? ;)

but putting super cooled air in a bottle would supercool the bottle itself thus making it brittle possibly??? unless the bottle was manufactured to prevent this.

on a related topic , when i get my dive tank filled, it is usually filled up as normal slowly, then put in a tank of chilled water for a few mins then topped up. thus no pressure drop.
