All depends on your speed, but 3 points and £60 is the norm up to about 50mphish.
Points used to last 4-5 years.
Don't worry about your insurance, it is now a sign of the times everyone has at least 3 points, insurance companies (in my experiance) don't worry until you clock up at least 6 points

you wanna try living near me.theres over a dozen within a 2mile radius.there a waste of time at the end of the day.cos as soon as you go through them, you speed back up again. my mates got a snooper.VERY GOOD,goes off every time, even on mobile radars.
Have you got the notice through yet? If not, wait, after 14 days if you've not recieved notice there's nothing they can do!
If you have, then it'll be £60 and 3 points, unless you were doing WELL over the speed limit, then it can be almost anything including a ban!

Ye but some of them go off when you go passed automatic doors and some times they dont stop bleeping and they piss you off!:p
If you got flashed by one of thoe yellow/grey box then i doubt ull get a ticket. They only work for 100 flashes then the film runs out and they hardly ever can be bothered to re fill them. Its a fact that only 1/3 of drivers (or near that area) actualy get a ticket sent to them.

hes right.i heard they only fine&hand out points to about 30% of those caught on camera.ive also heard if you dont sign the form they send out they take it to court and it will get thrown out cos by law you dont have to sign it.a glitch in the system

But if my memory serves Notingham are mainly trevelos and most of their kit is digital, so your odds of getting a nip are right back up to round about 90%.
And if you got done on the infamous Nottingham ring road you'll deffo be getting a ticket.
But chill, 3 points are nothing.

There was 1 case where it was thrown out - but they blocked that loophole. Same with sending a cheque for the amount plus 1p - doesnt work.
And if u fail to tell them who was driving, then the car owner gets the fine - hence why people using company cars are getting done all the time - company shops in the driver so THEY dont get the fine!
Don't get me started.!!
A friend of mine got off a ticket.
You say that yes it was your car that was speeding but you and your mate were both driving at some time on the journey as you were tired. You can't say exactly where you changed drivers as the roads are unfarmiliar but if they could provide some extra evidence (ie. a photo from the front) you would be able to help them.
You havn't refused to give the drivers details, just asked for more info. This causes a real headache for the police who have 500 or so people that day and really can't be arsed with you.
My mate got off this way, give it a go.
thing is what if my mate wasnt insured?...and its only me and the missus on the policy?
Check out this site http://www.e-database.co.uk it's a site that will tell you if you've been caught by speeding cameras. You need a user name and password to enter the site but it will give you theese. You can also access any pictures of you that are on file.

LMFOA THATS MINT HAD ME THERE ASWELL.I WAS LIKE I HAVEN'T BEEN TO CAMBRIDGESHIRE IN MY LIFE IS SOMEONE USING MY NUMBER PLATE:eek:  :( :D :D
just to try and answer the original question, the points stay on your licence for 3 years, but most insurance companies request that you tell them for 5 years. when i got 3 points for an SP60 my insurance went up £200, so its rubbish to say that they ignor the fact
ps i have know people who have tried to contest the ticket, and have got more points and a bigger fine, however, some have got off with just the £60 and no points
dependent upon the type of Gatso, a service log must exist ensuring that the device was correctly calibrated (a brief will be able to fill you on the required frequency). If challenged the Police MUST present these in court, however this loophole appears to be closing, and I don't think it applies to the new digital version.
A first SP30 is likely to have less of an affect on your licence than a SP50 or SP60. These are usually reserved for the really naughty or "big" speeders. Often these come with driving holidays, but if you take a straight up ban, you shouldn't get any points.
Speeding Points / endorsements on your licence count against you for 3 years (toting up), and you can request them removed after 4 yrs. Insurance companies will ask up to 5 yrs, but after 4 there is no proof you ever had them.
If it's an SP30, and not 30+ over the speed limit, you should get a conditional offer of 3 pts and a 60 pound fine. Take it, going to court leaves you at the mercy of the JPs or Magistrates, who if having a bad day can be much harsher. I've been banned twice for SP50's. The first time was a 132 in a 60. 14 day ban, no points 250 fine. The second time was 118 in a 70 zone, 90 day ban, no fine & no points. Fines and points are generally based upon your ability to pay, and on the second occasion the judge ruled that the maximum fine would not be deterrent enough due to my ability to pay, hence loaded the ban. Strangely my friend got done on exactly the same stretch of road 2 months before at over 120, only got a 30 day ban. It appeared my judge had the painters in on that occasion. Obviously if you are going to court, research which court / area takes a harsher line with motorists. Certain courts can be softer, and if possible try and get your case moved to one of these (claim work as a reason). Obviously not a guarantee, but every little helps.
Obviously if your a Premiership footballer, mason or member of the police you should expect to get off scot free.

Lol....i like this man! :D
You must have a bike ;)
Nope first time (132) was a modified Williams Clio. Second time (118) was a new Type R, under heavy breaking. The Cozzers were well impressed with it's braking cos they were like "well if you hadn't managed to shave off that much speed you were looking at a bird". Just hawked the Type R, just waiting for my new toy........bike. ;)
If this isn't Mr Stone i'm a mackem!! ;)

thats rubbish too, SP60 is juat a misculaneous (sp) speeding offence, where as an SP30 is excess speed in a 30 zone, you think about it, 30 zones tend to be for residential areas etc, where you are more likely to harm childern etc due to your speeding and most insurance companies take a much dimmer view on this. i got my SP60 for doing 90mph on a near deserted motorway (70 limit) at 5am in the morning...........really naughty "big" speeder my arse!

Wrong. An SP30 is exceeding a speed limit on a public road not just a 30. Dependent upon the insurance company, they view endorsements and the preemium adjustmnet differently.
Also the insurance companies couldn't give a toss when you got caught, the premium loading is calculated on the offence you got done for, not the road conditions. That will only come in play when in caught and calculating the offence.
The offence coding is often ambiguous, so before you act the big un, you should have been convicted with an SP50, which is Motorway speeding.
welsh police.........do i need to say any more
