View Full Version : Knee pads!
Can you please tell me which are the better pads to get, as they're all pretty-well equally priced on your site thats not an issue.
I will be playing mostly front, i'm pretty quick and slide hard....and i had an op on my knee last year so i want it to be well-supported and of course protected.
Can you tell me the pro's and cons of each type and your recommendation, also if anyone else uses knee pads can they recommend the better set to use?
Thanks guys

Broke my knee in four places as well and have to be careful when sliding about :(
Most knee pads are crap to be honest, and slide around your ankles after the first slide... Empire, JT, Dye (basically any of the elasticated ones).
You can try and tape them up, but to be honest to get them tight enough not to move you lose circulation... :(
The only knee pads I have ever had that never move are Redz, they are fastened with 3 velcro straps (one above, below, and central on the knee). They are really comfy as well. Think they only cost about £25 or so as well :)

Ive got some dye ones aswell and they make me sweat. When i take them off iv got a big wet patch on my knees:D
Try avoid the ones with straps as they stop circultion and after time the straps snap. The best ive seen are the new ANGEL ones they have straps and r elasticated. They fasten above the knee and go down the shins.
GET THE PROTO PADS I HAVE A PAIR AND THERE BRILLIANT, NEVER MOVE ABOUT OR SLIP DOWN UR LEG AT ALL! THEY ARE REALLY COMFORTABLE AND OFFER REALLY GOOD PROTECTION.
AND THERE ONLY £25 FROM FATBOBS!!!!!!!! GETSOME 2DAY;) :)
So whats the conclusion then?
Regardless of sweating are the dye/proto ones the one to go for?
Parksy where do you get the redz ones from....are they the ones you were using last monday?, they looked tidy.
The dye c5 and proto pads look basically the same allthough you are probably payin the extra £5 for the name on the dye ones not that it makes them any better, i wouldnt know though cos ive never tried the dye ones on. all i can say is i have a pair of proto ones and their excellent, and as for sweating they dont make my legs sweat too bad and feel rather cool and dont stop the circulation at all! I would recommend getting the proto ones but as u mention having had an op on ur knee it might be worth you spending that xtra £5 and getting the dye ones. ;) :D
