Ive been up all night since about 1/4 past 1 when the house opposite my back door exploded & went up in flames.
( about 18 metres away ) luckilly there was no one in it .
I'd just gone to bed when I heard what I thought was a rocket (banger type ) go of and thought who the hell is setting fireworks off at this time of a morning.
sat up , looked through the window to look at the pretty lights etc.. instead i saw the house opposite with a wall partly blown out & flames inside.
went downstairs t & phoned the fire brigade but my neighbour had just pipped me to the post.

trouble was by the time the fire brigade got to the house due to having to go up a track & through security gates it was too late & the house was well ablaze & collapsing.

spent about three or so hours helping out the firebrigade by using my big searchlight so they could see what they were doing. It was rather interesting stood there with peices of brick & slate whistling past your ears due to the heat.
I have taken some pics so I will post them later if I can.

just thought it was interesting &I'd share this with you.  :(

well its cool to watch them from a reasonable distance lee but not when its abrand new house with triple garage.especialy that close.I dont think it would be insured either as it was still being finished off. eg garden walls being finnished & plastering being done the other week.from what ive heard ibefore it blew up
when i was talking to the guy who was building it ,it was worth around 140 to 150 grand. :(

I'm sure it will be insured - even if being built.

Any idea what caused it? If the place was empty then it seems odd - maybe a gas leak or something?

no mains services of any kind connected to the property at all tom ,though i thought it could have been a gas bottle as i'd heard a rumour there were some there. though when i asked the fire investigation team and mentioned gas bottles, they told me they hadn't found any or traces of any.

talking to one of my neighbours, they told me the guy was known as a bit of a shady character & had made a few enemies but that was a bit of hearsay so i dont really know.
talking to the guy he seemed ok, but then people had told me in the past some of his buisness dealings sometimes bordered on the edge of legality, so i dont really know what to think.
