before i vote, i just want someone else's opinion, does having a nice car make me a boy racer type even though i'm 27 and not really a boy no more?

no, not realy, if thats your car in your sig then your not a boy racer, as that car looks good, and boy racers generaly tend to get s**t cars and try to make them good, fail miserably and then drive around tesco's car park honking their horns and doing tyre spin/burn thingies:D EDIT: then get chased away by the police who sit there laughing at them.

yep that's my car in the sig, and i'm glad i'm not seen as a boy racer. there's nothing worse than those little sh**s that have been driving a week and think their colin mccray in their 1.1ltr nova's with more rust than a scrap yard on them

Even though you're 27, I'd still point and laugh as you drove past, with your worp drive blarting. It does look like a tit-ish car mate. No offence, just my opinion. Under all that, it's still only a Ford mucus or fiesta, silk purse, sow's ear and all that.....;)

you'd be 1 of very few to point and laugh mate, as most people look and say "i wish i could buy a 17k car and rip it apart".

But.....it's still a fester. Now if you'd started off with a half decent motor in the first place, say a '74 Charger or a '76 Chevelle, it'd be a different matter. By the way, how did you manage to pay 17k for a fester???
And before you think I'm a sensible type, I've spent the better half of my life, chopping the crap out of bikes/cars. Not just swapping bits for shiny bits, chassis/frame building, custom tank fabrication, engine building, you name it, I've had a gas-axe to it. From £200 mopeds as a kiddie upto £40k Harleys. ;)

Hey rob have you got a charger? or were you just using it as an example of what an awesome car he could have bought instead of that sparkly souped up lawn mower :D (no offence of course to the owner of the car, just my opinion)

first thing's first, it's not a fester, it's a focus - not just your standard focus though, it's the flagship of the current range(untill they start building more rs's and the new st) the ST170, so as standard without the extra's it's £16k.
then i took the engine and added a pipercross viper kit, piper exhaust cam's, full powerflow exhaust,pipercross breather hose filter, bluefin superchip, and kent vernier cam pully's making my little st 217bhp, 0-60 in around 6 second's.
i'll be adding samco hose's soon and possibly superchargeing it.
then come's the £2k for my audio system
and around £400 so far for the momo interior.
£1500 for the 18X8 chrome alloy's with 2" deep dish rim
and it's far from fininshed.
oh and i forgot to mention it's brand new only 8 month's old now
not keen on old car's but the charger look's cool

That looks nicer, in my opinion. But there again, I have a 'thing' for big cars. 'Ain't no substitute for cubes!' The charger was a mid-range, 5.9 model. I never really did a lot to that car, Holly twin-throat, down-draught carbs, Turned up the output pressure on the supercharger & fitted a later model bonnet with more room in the spuggy-slicer. Leathered out the interior & braced the front of the chassis but that was it. It made 482bhp anyway, so I figured it'd do!

i would gladly kill for my scooby back mate, any insurance company worker will do, they just rip people off so the scooby is no more.
on the bright side i'm making plan's for a skyline gtir-34, 2.7 twin turbo , a guy i know in walsall has his at 1100 bhp and counting.
to be fair though he does own his own performance company

You're too old to be a boy racer, you might fall into the barry boy category though :eek:
The Scuby is an awsome car, got rid of mine because of obsesive police interest,
oh and all the court appearences although not my fault, the Lebanese guy assured me the goats were female!!

it's prodominatly for road use at the mo, he's still installing all the apexi digital dial's in it, last run out he did the 1/4 mile in just over 9 sec's and reached 223mph, since then it's had the crap ripped out of it so it's lighter, complete respray look's well nice,
oh well, only 3 year's to go before i get one.
As for the scooby, i never had a single run in with the law. don't know why, it wasn't like i ever did the speed limimt in it, shame though really mine was just the WRX 2.0T topped out at 157mph down the M5 going to torquey. man is that scary!!!

dont go back 2 the scooby ur focus is nice better than the new shape and they drive nice would prefer the rs but way 2 much torque steer, id say go for a civic type r cause they look nice but then my escort rst beats them and its an f reg, u must get something with a turbo the sound the feel and the power is amazing my rst is bout 240bhp and top speed of off the clock which over 140 not bad for an old car get the new alfa romeo brera MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

im not a boy racer and i believe mr urban badlad aint there is nothin wrong with performance cars and amazin at how something so small can be manipulated into such power, most boy racers from my area on the doll or just bums in general

the RS focus is quite frankly a waste of time and money, why spend 20k on a car that is SLOW compared to all other 2.0T,it's only 212bhp standard, the new astra coupe is 2.oT and that's 255bhp, and most importantly of all it's only front wheel drive, if your gonna get a turbo'd car you gotta go with 4WD. never been that keen on ford's only got this co's the insurance is cheap compared to the car i want, my scooby was turbo'd and that was 260bhp, AWD, top speed of 160mph and stuck to the road like s#*t to bed sheet's, civic type R's are hair dresser's car's look nice but drive's like a lump of turd, had an alfa before, 156 2ltr tspark veloce, nice car but toooo many problem's.
in my eye's there's nothing gonna touch a skyline. not 1 but 2 turbo's on a monsterous 2.7 ltr engine, been told if i spent 4K on one i'd be looking at between 600-700 bhp.
your mate's cossie can't be beating bike's, it's more likely that the bike rider's are holding back, a suzuki hayabusa is a 1300 turbo'd bike mate, they can do over 200mph and do 0-100 in 3 second's which an old siera cossie is never gonna do no matter what bhp it's pushin, the car will be way too heavy to get it moving that quickly so by the time your mate's out of 1st the hayabusa will be at 100 mph and kissing his ass good bye

im guessin you have never heard of cvt transmission? the power to weight ratio of the cossie is ridiculous it ways about as much as mariah carey on a diet, put al this together (i.e cvt transmission which is a transmission that dosent change gear just is one gear( http://www.vsmotor.no/wmv/vsmotor-m5-tullinge-883.wmv ) heres a demostration of cvt granted this is has double the horse power of the cossie but its just a preview of the wonders of cvt) so put cvt light weight ish car and heck loads of power with huge turbo! i gather that u know bout the different size turbos like if u have a big one it kicks in later but is so much morepowerfull, well i guess ul have 2 see it 2 believe it unless u have a little faith
why dnt u all start a new thread called boy racer yes or no
