im having a problem with windows media player. It keeps saying
" dwwin.exe
this application has failed to start because URLMON.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
but i tried re-installing it, twice and the same thing happens every time. Help!

this file is corrupted. generally means when you have un-installed something it hs taken the file path with it....or......you have had a virus that has corrupted your file for playing media payer. even installing it again wont help. if you know about computers then i would go onto the system and do a back date so you can revert back to when your system was working and will get rid of all info that damaged it kinda like going back in time.....

alternatively download winamp i find it alot louder and easier to use. doesnt tie up your computer MB so it allows your computer to run faster unlike media player that slows it down.

Or why not try Realplayer or quicktime?

not really as it is a windows built in spec. becuase the pats lays within the windows programme itself its hard to regain use.....

realplayer and quicktime have alot of spyware in them and are not recommended. winamp is alot better.

you can try going onto the offical windows media player and downloading from there bt thats all i can think of.

You will probably have a file called urlmon.dll in c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386

Have you tried renaming c:\windows\system32\urlmon.dll, and then copying the above in it's place. You may have to boot into safe mode ?

Also, You could try reinstalling the service packs as I believe one of them updates this file.
