View Full Version : New Ego Boards (Virtue, Tadao)
Have just received my Virtue board for the EGO today, will check it out at next available chance and give you all the low down.
AL, can you do a mini review of the Tadao board on this thread fella?
No problem...
First thoughts. 80g micro switch "jeez thats heavy!!!". Timmy ones are around 25/30. Put it in. Read manual (very quickly... lets say skim read). Go thru settings. Play about a bit, listening to the solonoid clicking at 26bps and getting exited etc... etc...
Not 100% with the trigger at first. Bit hard, not as id like it really. After reading about, i find out that bending (yes bending) the metal pin on the switch alters the feel of the pull. Note, dont do this if your not comfortable. I'd also like to point out here, that the micro switch is replacesable and interchangeable. There currently developing lighter switches that can just be pulled striaght in, hastle free, its great.
So anyways, i bent mine backwards so it was flatter. This made it VERY light and short, but not to my liking. So i bet it up over the other way. This made greater distance POST pull how i like it. I then set the trigger up with the smallest pull possible. JUST on the mircoswitch with 1/2 a mm pre and post pull... IF THAT. And just took the magnet out all togteher.
SO i go thru the settings for a bit play on the setup. CPF.. 0%!!! Loader dealy 1. Debounce... 5. AMB, none. Bascilly picked the silliest settings i could find so that when i did get to put paint thru it, it would be balistic....
So sunday comes... Paint and air... DOESNT BOUNCE!!!. So im liek right, debounce 1!!!. Everything off, no CPF. Still NO BOUNCE. Awesome. Rip it and its insane. Faster than ive ever had my Ego.
It was so fast that i was reciving a bit of drop off (only noticable cos i had to chorno at 280 which is slower than i could throw... but u know thats a differnt story). Little bit of tweaking... Move LPR in and out till i get it right and Dwell to compensate. less than 10mins, SPOT ON.
Bascily what this board does, is turn your Ego into a smaller, lighter Timmy. Which is exactly what i wanted it to. Shoots and feels just like a timmy. Fast as hell and WHOLE load of feautres. (More than the Virtue).
Just a breif note on the feautres. Pretty much ramping to sort anyones needs and ANY tournament rules. It has adjustable ramp start points and max rate of fire in all ramp modes, so no matter what the leagues do, youll be fine. And on the personal note, you neednt have it set to 4 pulls and its silly. Theres a 'mild' ramp setting which adds shots depending how your shooting, coupled with a higher start point, gives a more natural ramp feeling. Then obviusly MAX ramp, so soon as you hit the limit it goes away. All these modes can have the PSP 3 shot burst function or not too. So pretty much sorted.
Other features include. NXL style Full auto, again adjustable start and max rates. Normal Full auto with max rate adjustable. Z-burst (3 shot burst really). Capped semi... etc etc etc... Also worth a note GANGSTER MODE ;););)
The modes and set up are UBER easy any fool can do it. Yes its LED's but there SUPER bright, they leave u seeing dots for ages, and there very easy to understand. This is all easily changebale when u want to mess about, no opening grips or anything which is great for when your first setting up your gun. Then a tournament lock to lock it down for tourneys.
Ultimatly this is jsut a super super board, I cant really fault it. Im in love.
That good enoug chris? Bet your virtue aint as good :p
Nice one AL, just what we wanted to know :)
My turn :)
Virtue board from Advantage PB, very simple installation, bit fiddly with the free standing battery connector because i'm using the star frame but still worked out well. Similar setup to the Tadao board cept it uses one multi coloured LED (which again is super bright and gives you headaches after too much staring at it).
Very easy to navigate trigger pull setup system and menus.
First point was the trigger, i'm quite new to paintball and have my trigger setup quite far for a pull and heavy too (i still manage 14bps when warmed up), after playing with AL's machine gun on Sunday, I decided to set my trigger up very similar on this virtue board. Trigger literally ON the microswitch, shortest pull i've ever had and it feels a little weird especially as i'm using the star trigger (which i'm used to walking with a lot of distance in the pull). I think a standard EGO trigger would work better (of which i have one here i may play with later). Having said that, the star frame and trigger allows you to use the spring on it's own which gives the pull and nice soft but clicky feel.
Loads of modes, again very similar in style to the Tadao board although the eye and trigger logic is "said" to be the most sophisticated available.
This board is there to make you fire faster than you have ever done before and it does its job well.
Again, debounce and AMB (anti mechanical bounce) is changeble although I currently have mine set to debounce 3 and AMB 3 (Default).
Will take it through it's paces with a box of reballs in the next couple of weeks to see what it can do.
Summary
Pretty much a style choice for which board you want to go for, both very similar, not many cons for either really. The pros are you will wonder why you didn't have a board like this for your ego before. I think i might get the Tadao board aswell and compare them to see how they fair together on the exact same setup.
