ok, so im after a new barrel for my A5. I dont want a flatline barrel as i already have one. could anybody recomend a really good barrell to use?

I have been looking at the Dye Boomsticks and also the J & J Ceramics barrels. does anybody have any experience with either of these?

thanks.

why would you want anything other than the flatline? it absolutely rocks! if you don't want the flat shooting then just use the stock barrel; i actually prefer it to the armson, as the accuracy is fine and its so compact. i'd say the accuracy is limited more by the internals than by the stock barrel, and although a multiple barrel kit might not hurt, it would prob cost more than the stock gun anyways.

Stick with what you have got matey. Ive tried different barrells for my A5 and the flatline wins everytime!

or cheaper and just as accurate a big proggresive i got a 14inch progressive and it shoots in a perfect straight line.

i had a LAPCO big shot which i found to be brilliant, it seemed better than the standard barrel and the smart pats progressive barell i had for it also, but in my opinion the whole point of an A5 is the flatline which was good but it gets frustating not being able to pick off a player from close range with ya first shot............. the lapco also "suited" the A5 it looked "right" which the progressive never di and neither would a ultra light.

just my opinion :)

:D have a look at opsgear 18inch interceptor barrel they have a video of the barrel in action, i already have this barrel instead of my flatline and i`m very pleased with it (internal bore is .686) and the specialops jet black paintballs goes through this flawlessly:D :D

O.k still being new to all this and seeing as there is no point starting a new thread I am going to add on the end of this one.

Looking at barrel accuracy and distance, basically I was narced no end at the weekend (Mayhem) first testing of my A-5 with a standard barrel that people were quite happily walking along out of range of my marker in the open on some fields. To that end i'm looking at barrels for starters, I am considering the apex for cost (looks pap just a standard apex but hey ho its not to expensive) the flatline seems to bring with it some problems an amateur like me would have issues with and maybe a longer barrel 16" or so but my real question is if you take away all the trick shots from an apex just consider the range and accuracy is it worth it over a standard longer barrel?

try a j and j ceramic with the apex tip, accuracy and range.

Is it seriously that simple, just remove the top and put it on another barrel.

If not i don't suppose you have a link to a guide/post on the procedure, still relatively new as I mentioned and don't fancy killing 2 nice piece of kit in one go

you need a adaptor, see antarios of ukscenario.com

I must agree with Sparky, get an Apex and an adapter and it will fit any straight 7/8th" barrel.

With the Apex you can out shoot a Flatline in range, adjust the Apex so it acts as a standard barrel, they are not picky with paint. Great option to have.

I machined down a 1" dia SP8 stock barrel so I could also fit it to my Ion.

Cool product.

I too wouldnt mind a new barrel on my A5 as the stock barrel tends to go left & right of the target a bit when firing a succession of shots, although when firing an aimed single shot its dead on most times  ,im not interested in trick shots though, just a little more range & accuracy. If i went for an apex i would have to get a decent shroud for it though as it looks a bit ghey on its own
