View Full Version : O dear god, film clip
There is a movie called failure to launch, this is one of the scenes from it,
this is the reason why all you little perverts shouldnt touch yourself at night, (cause every time you touch yourself god makes something bad happen)
the video makes me want to cry some of the things that happen, watch and youll see

I know it was a film but the amount of times they took their masks off in the game zone made me wince I was expecting the film to be more like 'Failure To See Again' in a Byker Grove-esque paintball blinding scene or something.
whats with the bullet and machine gun noises?
yep that made me laugh i will admit, since when did markers make m16 noises lol
i think we should make a list of the amount of things wrong in that video
The team "Devil Babys"...
Finger roll... wtf?!
Smoke grenade in xball...
poor sounds...
knocking bunkers over...
using spyders...
Well tbh everything... somone should kill everyone involved in this film, it embarrasses me more to think people have seen this than to have them think i play in the woods...

to cut a long list short, lets just say that the entire clip was wrong, and should be expunged from the pages of history with a very hot branding iron! just out of curiosity, what was that clip from?
failure to launch was the film name, and my favourate suttle thing that is wrong, they are allowed spyder electras
Well its only scrimaging... do u see any refs? In that case anything goes. Infact, even if it wasnt, what wouldnt be allowed anyways?

I know that we see it differently however it is in the movies, and it will appeal to someone. I would be very surprised if it doesn't attract some more people to the sporting side of paintball as opposed to the rambo side.
Erm... sorry i missed any sporting side of paintball in that clip, all i saw was the rambo side, can somone please give me a time index? cheers...
p.s. oh wait, somone did kinda run and gun...

ok bright colours, team format, xball field. I know it ain't exactly how it works in real life, but it is SOME representation of TOURNAMENT paintball, and at least to newcomers it is far removed from camo and most peoples perception of paintball.
sorry if it doesn't meet your standards for how tourney should look, but its a movie mate, they ain't trying to plug or promote paintball. Its part of a fantasy storyline.
Lad, lads, lads,
You are missing the point here.
Just after Channel 4 screened "Crossfire", you may remember the "Emulsifier" etc etc, about as far removed from paintball as you can possibly get, the site phones started to melt.
The public perception is completely different from that of those people who play, they won't think for a second about masks, refs or what guns people are shooting, they will just see paintball. And that is perfect.
Education starts when they go to a site. Unfortunately for TV, people need to remove goggles in the game area so we the public can see who they are.
There is absolutly nothing wrong with the film clip. The guy getting shot on the foot appears to be a halfwit so presumably he is there for the comedy element.
Any paintball on tv can only be good.
Lets not get to anal. We once got a phone call from some player after he saw our site promo DVD. Anyone who has seen it will know that at the end, the Predator (we were the first and all the other numpties who can't think for themselves coppied us) rips the mask off the player to reveal cleverly that the person who has just destroyed the other team is infact a woman!! He complained that this would encourage people to take their masks off. What rubbish.
Now our DVD is a piece of film, we could discuss and say that in reality it is unlikely that a woman would completely wipe out another team and that even if there was such a woman in paintball she would have a face like a smacked arse and not the pretty young girl that we got to act at the end. It's just an advert in the same way that the film in question is just that, a film and not an accurate historical documentary.
The only problem with the film is that it is set around those silly blow up things and not set where real paintball is played which is of course in the woods. Which links me nicely to the fact that the first Genesis Event is this weekend (Sunday 19th) and is a proper woodland 5 man tournie.

'tiss true it's only TV / film and most of it is not to be beleived  , but it only takes one idiot (daft barsteward) to see it on the box to beleive thay can do it in real life.

I mean whenever I'm on a punter day with first timers the marshals spend a lot of time policing idiots who remove their mask for one reason or another.
and I've always wanted to (well I say always, but since seeing infaltables at the NEC last year) run into an obstacle at full pelt and have it go flying :D has it ever happened??

'And I thought it might have been jammed in the barrel so I looked down there and it fired at me."
He was wearing a mask, but had lifted up the visor for a moment to see down inside'

slightly different if somewhat petty Al. Different case entirely and you know it. As my post said and Fatbobs also (more eloquently) it is peoples perception that is important.
I suppose you don't talk to newer players either as they don't play at the same level you do??
if that movie makes a few people say "fancy a go at that" then whats the harm? it can only be good to see new people coming on board with a direct enquiry about the tournament style paintball they saw in that movie. if you think its crap thats your right and privilege to have that opinion. I agree that the standard of play is poor and that the safety standards are non existent, however it plugs tournament paintball on a global level and for the first time.
maybe next time Russian Legion could learn to speak english and act as stunt doubles.

Now that's how you get them into paintball, use bob masks, the next time they come they've got their own, and a bit later they think, "hey I've got a mask, lets go the whole hog and buy teh rest of the gear"

It's not a a petty point at all (and if you want me to argue ill tell u exactly how its not too dis-simlar to my example). My point is that they clearly ARENT playing the game properly and this small clip is going to be the only basis people have to judge tournament paintball from. It's shows absolutly nothing of true gameplay. Peoples perception of the sport isnt important to. You say it as if i give a damn about the wider industry and the future of paintball. My point is alot smaller and selfish than that, i care what people think about ME and what I do. This film clearly shows what i spend ALL my life's time and money on, to be a big joke and THAT is what upsets me.
As for the newer players comment, your just making personal something thats not personal at all. You've totally misjudged me as im sure alot of people on here will tell you. I spend alot of my free time playing with and teachin other people to the best of my ability. People who genuinly have drive and want to learn that is. Not all those people who spend all day moaning on forums claiming this and that and then giving u a "who do u think u are" look when u try to help them out. So u can shove THAT comment up your ****.
I agree about the last bit, but however as i said before thats nothing to do with me. Ive been in paintball long enough to stop caring about politics, 'the wider industry' and development of something it seems no one gives a damn about. Sorry for a rather pesamistic view but its my take. If the clip gave rise to maybe 100 ballers over here, yeah i'd say it was a good thing, but it aint gonna happen. No one over here is intrested. So on that basis ill protect my views and comdem this video so i dont get more stick from my mates and people at work...
As for stunt doubles, if they were even playing properly it would be a start. All im askin for is an accurate portrail...

maybe if punters didn't shoot each other in the head when head shots don't count then the masks wouldn't be so "shit". also, why don't you try keeping a mask and lense in pristeen condition when hundreds of people a year use it,... without spending a bloody fortune that is. sites spend alot of money as it is so it's obvious that it's not gonna be as good as your equipment.

You would not believe the evolution in goggles from Uvex with a woodstalk faceplate, through JT single lenses with no anti fog coating, all the way up to the present V Force Armour goggles.
The V Force armour goggles are certainly not shit. They were and still are a revolution for the paintball industry. There are however sites that continue to use goggles that are not V-Force Armour which is absolutly astounding.

Well as for shoving something up my ar**, i don't think that's a very acceptable way to speak to anyone, and i am certainly not accepting that from the likes of you.
Doesn't matter to me if you spend all your life's time and money on paintball, thats your choice entirely. as for your mates at work giving you stick, thats your problem not mine. if you can't take it, find another job where they won't give you stick or grow up and ignore them.
I think you have just very ably saved me the trouble of showing how selfish and small minded you are by your own admission.
you quite clearly seem to believe that some people are actually going to sit and analyse, or memorise every detail of that clip. it ain't happening like that chap. wake up. all it is going to do is spark an interest in finding out more about what looked like fun!!! and i hope it does. you have your opinion which you are entitled to, i have mine which i am also entitled to, so i will agree to disagree.

This is all going a bit too far, I'm sure everyone here is thinking this now. I get stick for spending about 80 quid a month on paint from people who know I go paintballing saying I should spend it on a night out like they do but I just laugh it off or ignore it. I've asked an entire callcentre of people who would like to go with me one week and I only got about 5 replies of people who 'might go to one'.
I'm not a huge fan of football and I'd hate to spend all my wages on going out drinking each month but I can see why people do it....each to their own. If you let people know how seriously you take it or go into technical detail about what hopper you are exicted about or God forbit mentioning lubing your gun and trying to keep your balls warm then trying to get people to go with you even without mentioning the cash you can spend on it as a hobby, they wont find it as exciting.
Like I did, I went as a punter, loved it then bought the gear and got on the forums...best way.
