Lost my dodgy callcentre job today, getting paid til next week Friday. Just found out today at 11am and am now just about to go to Job Center to spam the local businesses.
I have 3 jobs lined up already, my old pub job, my mates dad with own building company and my dad who needs cover for petrol station till attendants in May. Those will get me by but I gotta get a job til end of May when I hear back about a £12 an hour driving job that I applied to early April.

I sorta knew they'd get rid of me, so I've been prepared...it's just sinking in that that I might not be able to make the 21st may YPC game :( .

Pray for me :P

I feel for you m8. Was made redundant on March 31st and there seems to be no sign of work for me yet :/
Starting to get worried as there are no IT jobs for me and I have a mortgage to pay!

I only have a few financial commitments, 'mummy and daddy' look after me well :o . To get my own place I'll need a good job I'm not too down about it as I've come back from the JC with 15 jobs that I am applying for they are only £5 to £6 an hour 40 hour a week driving jobs but that sort of job won't drive me insane like the callcentre. I feel bad for anyone who has to pay for a house/family who loses their job I only have to give up some of my comforts for a few weeks.

I will get a duff job easily it's just the initial 'damn' factor of being told you're crap.

I am looking right now at:
Milkman
Courier (need your own van!)
Meals on wheels for housebound individuals
Auction porter (hey I was looking to drive something)
Multidrop driver in wingate durham.

to name a few...the milkman 2am start to 8am finish sounds like somebody's nightmare.

Courier works a good job ,if you've no commitments BUT the overheads are very high and you need to get on with a good firm, not DHL tho' 'cos they pay peanuts.

This one is for KJM couriers, and I have no idea of what a good or bad deal would look like. Says I have to have a minimum of estate car, look smart and travel nationwide. You get a sat nav phone and pc for £300 deposit working on the M62 mainly. Got to work all days of the week 40 hours in total for wage that 'meets national minimum'.

Sounds well bad.

If you can find the money to play on the 23rd , i`ll buy you a box of paint .

The losing of your job at the call centre is probably the best thing that has happened. It’s time for a career move. Your mates fathers building company sounds the best option and initially it may not be the best paid , but if you are learning a trade , bricking , plastering , plumbing , gas fitting then you can’t go wrong and you will reap the benefits in a few years when you will own the latest marker and equipment .

Good Luck .

KJM ?,never heard of them, like you say well dodgy. You need a £600-£700 a week turnover to make it worth doing.

Can't buy yourself friends Billy No Mates :p lol, all jokes aside thanks very much for the offer I felt bad about kind individuals at walkons lending me guns when mine broke, one thing I would die from is having the cheek to go to an *optional* hobby and have someone pay for something that is not essential to my wellbeing at the moment.

Basically if I can afford the fuel, time not job seeking or working and entry fee/lunch then I sure as hell am not going to take this, although it is appreciated and extremely generous offer, up.

Now that I know I can use my last genesis event paint supply guilt-free at my next game it shouldnt be a problem, especially with my viewloader Lynx 3 mech marker and gravity hopper which I use less than a box of paint per event anyway.

NO DANGER , the offer still stands should you change your mind . Anyway make sure your next yob / trade is in the construction industry , most trades are on atleast a grand a week . electricians , plumbers , plasterers , gas fitters , joiners , brickies .

Yeah especially if you run the trade business, my mates dad is giving me work anyway, probably mixing cement for fence posts when landscaping a garden again :( I had been going to the gym 3 times a week back then and I'm a damn sight un-fit since I've been sat on my ass for 6 months whilst working for the callcentre eating junkfood. I'm probably at the least fit I've ever been and no word of a lie since starting paintball in Jan 2006 my battle pack has got tighter round the waist!.

I prefer to have a job where each day is different so I guess manual work would be my sort of thing, another one of my friends has been made redundant twice now as an electrician so it does not look too rosy there.

I'll make it on a rubbish job for now, even if it's only so I can make paintball once a month eventually I want my own place and will be looking for a career where I can progress over the years rather than go from the naff jobs I have got right now just ot pay the few bills I have and enjoy my youth before getting a mortgage and being 'stuck' in a job I hate.

My ex-girlfriend got her own house age 21 and she has 2 crap jobs to pay the bills, she's in debt and has no life just to pay the bills and last time I heard she was paying her debts minimum payments off and only had £20 a month for herself after food and all the bills. I would be proud to have my own house but if I was her and I crashed my car or something happened I dont know how I'd pay for it, it's very fragile.

Shitter about the job dude, but jobs come and jobs go.

What is refreshing is a young bloke getting out there and looking for replacment work, even if it's crap "do you want fries with that" to make ends meet.

It truley is a good show of your character and with this attitude I've got a feeling you've not got long to wait until you get teh job you want.

Nothing against burger bar staff, but if I wanted fries, I'd of bloody well asked for them

QUOTE - I'm probably at the least fit I've ever been and no word of a lie since starting paintball in Jan 2006 my battle pack has got tighter round the waist!.

wait until it don`t fit and falls off when you run .

your elecy mate wants to set his own business up and go self employed - made redundant twice , was anybody else made redundant or just him (they could be telling him something)

I`ve have 2 elecy mates and they are both on over a grand a week a piece they work for themselves and are chocca with work .

What about YPC , i am sure i had seen a thread on marshalls required . It could atleast help you along abit if it`s worth travelling from middlesborough .

Yeah even though it only happened today I was applying for jobs start of April and am waiting for replies still, I did get one 'no' but I sent off like 9 apps. I'm going to apply to at least 10 of them tomorrow I've just updated my CV to show I left current job today! went in the job centre and they asked me how long I've been unemployed I said "about 3 hours".

I couldnt see myself not being bothered to get a job and lounging around...that's the reason I failed Uni because I never went there to learn anything and becuase I fell behind I got depressed about it and got into a little lazy rut, I have not been unemployed since I turned 16 and technically still am in a job as the place that dropped me are paying me until next week Friday so the shifts I have arranged already for various people is a bonus really....like all good things though getting paid and not having to work to earn it will not last forever.

I think that the only reason my harness does fall off when I run is because the clippy bit meets where my leg holster velcro straps round and perhaps it's the velcro and pistol bouncing about that unclips it for me??. Need a new battle pack anyway I got the cheap one from Guerrilla.

As for the YPC I would be too keen to play. Marshalling would kill me, I mean to turn up and watch people having fun in my fave hobby, Jesus! :p

Hey there dude,
sounds like u got a great attitude towards work etc which a rare commodity nowadays, if ya at any places i'm playing at u can lend my fully tricked out Tippmann A5 complete with custom camo paint job if ya want.

Agree fully with Billy nomates about learning one of the trades, theres a tonne of money to be made in those areas.. DEFINATELY.

Also, Wildwayz, i'm not 100% sure but a little birdy says there could be a IT job going at the Yorkshire Post in Leeds, maybe not but could be worth a ringing to check. I know the feeling.. damn mortgage.. i just getting new house to accomodate alla ma paintball gear :P

First bit of good news lst night at 9pm my old boss from the pub rang me, not knowing I had lost my job (I was about to go see him in person) asking me if I could work Fri, Sat and Sundays for him. I'll have to have this Sat off and Sun 21st off just in case I get cash for paintball (which looks more likely) but apart from that if I do get a crappy 9-5 for now I can work 7-11 shifts to boost my income.

Means working with my ex again but I explained I might not be able to work just weekends again mainly because I'm going to grab whatever job comes along, damn nice of my boss though to ring.

The biggest shock for me regarding unemployment is actually my older brother, he's been out of work since last June and is in a lazy rut, depressed and is losing his mates over it all. He's got no money, lives at home same as me but he's 34!. I would go insane not being able to have money to spend and even though he's my brother at the end of the day I couldnt be so lazy and so sad that I would put off potential job applications until the deadline. He doesnt realise that if you apply on the last day the company is not going to have 150 job interviews, they'll have about 20 so if you send yours in on the last day they won't even open the letter.

Oh, and I'll be damned if I'm missing 2 consecutive paintball events! my last was early March.

Up till last october i was a joiner getting construction industry rates of pay(£12.50 an hour) and the only time i came close to a grand a week was a couple of weeks when i did 30 hours overtime. A flat week would see me takink home £350 a week.

Bod, can I just say that your little picture is one of the most disturbing/weird things I have seen, I've spent alot of time looking closely at it wondering what the hell it is....what is it man?

If you mean my avatar, it's just a pic i found that summed up how i felt a year ago, depressed, ready to explode,on my way to madness. But i've been much better recently since i got my voluntry redundancy last october, well i was feeling better untill clarkie started working at the site.
Oh and then i stuck a coppers party hat on it cos i was one of the uncoruptable pink staines coppers at WOR 4 last year(i was the 1 with the real nightstick as apposed to the squeacky truncheons the others had.)

I've known Andy C for 15 years now  (he used to live just down the road from me) and have learned the two phrases never to use when talking to him are
1. are you allright and 2. hows things. Because if you do you know you're going to get a lecture about every aillment illness and operations he's ever had and how the world sucks in general.
Say things like "Hi Andy its really really nice to see you again" and"Ive not seen you looking so well in a long time".
If you do this it usually leaves him pretty speachless and not able to bring up all his trials and tribulations. gives you time to escape too.:D

How's things? & Are you alright? are greetings and not questions! And like bad BO or smelly breath someone needs a quiet word in his 'shell like' to let him know where he's going wrong. Telling the whole world and his dog on a public forum isn't the place or way to go about it!

ive just spent the last 2 years of my life in college full time, and working part time evenings and weekends for peanuts..

i know how much it can suck to be laid, off, at 27 yrs old, you seem to have more overheads than when you are younger, and its been hard to make ends meet..

on that note.. my 2 years of training have finally paid off and i start a near £400 a week 9 to 5 job on tony lambs birthday.. lol

unemployment sucks..
