That's because you haven't played it yet

The Genesis Tournies are full day events, not half days.

The normal cost for a walkon day is £20. The additional £10 for the tourny reflects the additional costs of marshaling the events.

im not saying its a half day, i know its all day but by the sounds of it you end up sitting around for half a day waiting to get on!

You think 30 pounds for a tournament is expensive! You then have you paintbill on top. Thic could be 30 quid for genesis tournament or up to 60 for a sup air event. If you want to get into paintball, get used to the prices:rolleyes:

The price reflects a lot of items and compared to other events is "cheaper". Marshals need to be paid, sites need paying for, poly cup trophies are expensive (the trophies have been done and if I can make the next walk on they will be presented - again!!) AIR and CO2 needs to be paid for, INSURANCE (something few players ever think about) the list is endless.

Supair events are now about £40 per player or in the case of millennium events nearer the £80 per player.

Even with the waiting to play time you get more minutes on a field than at a sup'air event. The more teams we get in the better it will be and the value for money will get better.

Just to correct the price it is £30 for UKPSF members and £35 for non members - so even more expensive

Forums are free to register and use.

Help and tech advise is free on site, and sometimes you really, really need it! (they rebuilt my gun for me on my first day).

The paint is £25 a box (at Genesis events) and most punter days charge ALOT more than this (nearer to £100).

You get a free DVD of the days games at YPC (if the camera takes the footage after being shot).

Andy regulary accepts requests for bits n bobs to be brought with him for you to purchase on site, reducing any postage you would normally pay on items.

The food and drink at the YPC is reasonably priced (not sure of what actual prices are but it's nothing like £1 for a can of coke, it is not extortionate).

I travel 90 minutes by car to go to events and it's still worth it!

Troyski 99, look at the names on the reply, same old names, same old replies. No one mentioned sup air, or trophies or Andy bringing equipment to sell :( (when's this shop opening). I must stress that i have nothing against YPC, Fatbobs or Andy other than being 'Devils Advocate'::p where neccesary. Indeed this is where i first played, where i first shopped and where i got my first advice respectively. However, Troyski 99 you must understand that all 3 of the above are owned and run by one and the same who also owns this forum. Therefore, as a customer you must decide whether you are getting customer satisfaction (£30 -£35 on top of paint for possibly long periods of no-play 'see sundays gripe').Your the boss of your actions.
With regards the rest of you replying, this is supposed to be a forum for ideas and comments, if your just going to brow beat any contra ideas to your own (from newbies) why don't you just play with each other:rolleyes:

WTF are you smoking sonny

I have no affiliation to either YPC, fat bobs or Wakefield and to the best of my knowledge neither does D3ath ADder or Jimmy or half of the other replies on this thread.

I choose to play at YPC by choice, I enjoy it there, from the games to the staff to the whole community spirit and I get up at 05:00hrs to make the journey to get there, have no fear if i thought for one minute it was bob or I wasn't getting my monies worth I wouldn't go, and I'm not worried about making my feeling known on here.

Yes there is the "Gripe" thread and as WildWayz pointed out it was one incident.

My advice would be this, go and play, come and take part then and only then will you have a valid viewpoint and something to base an opinion on, otherwise you're just blowing smoke up everyones ass.

Mr Longbeard speaks the truth.
I've lost count of the amount of times I have been to a YPC walkon and had a marker or bottle problem and someone has helped me out. Even Andy offered to lend me an air bottle too.

The people and atmosphere are excellent - and even when I went by myself I hooked up with a few lads and were part of a team.

I like sitting out the odd game as it gives me a chance to pot up, tweak my marker and clean it down.

The one time I sat out 2 or 3 games (1 hour total) was the 1st time Andy trialed the woodland tourny on a walkon day. I think it just didnt work out well that one time, but it was pretty much a one off.

Come along to the YPC one on May 21st and seriously, you will enjoy the day.

I am not affiliated with Fatbobs or YPC even though I promote it so much. It seriously is the best atmosphere, I go on my own and only started in January not knowing anybody there I am still a newbie. My gun broke on my first ever game and a total stranger lent me like £600+ of gun to use, it's very rare that you find that sort of kindness anywhere.

As for time between games, maybe it's because I'm still new but I still feel a little rushed sometimes between games, buying paint, filling the air tank, filling pods, cleaning the barrel/hopper if need be, strapping your gear on and having a little rest and maybe a quick swig of lucozade between fast pased 10-15 minute games sometimes rushes me.

God forbid if there is a queue for paint, air or tech advice.

hi troyski99,i know they are charging £30 for members of ukpsf and £35 for non-members which you think might be expensive but for a day out paintballing on a punters day with a box of paint you are going to get stung for at least £120 which is much more painful than getting your sherrifs badge felt. why don`t you just give it a try and see how it goes,i will hopefully be going to the campaign one soon maybe we can hook up.

No mate it aint the same old names same old posts, as I dont think i have posted on this subject before. The thread was started by someone complaining about prices. Paintball is all about the cash so I basically said if you dont like it, then tough, because this is the reality of the sport. Maybe if your post didn't start with an insulting remark then your post may have seen the light of day. And to end, kiss my arse!;)

Sorry if this seems to have been ignored however in my post which I created before yours (shown in part, above) I did state that Andy does include a site shopping list to save on postage charges for requested items. As for Sup Air I (although am not aware) do not know if Andy or Genesis (to which the first post comments upon) includes Sup Air in the days gaming. From my experience of Genesis we do not utilise Sup Air in the games, so the original post pricing comment was not wholly relevent to Sup Air nor to any responses we could provide regarding the cost of the Genesis team entry cost.

Trophies? I am not even sure if these are given out at the Genesis events, to my knowledge.

In the above quoted post which I have shortened to areas that the rest of the forum could comment upon (the rest of the post being directed as a reply to the original poster) there seems nothing much else to comment upon as the final few lines were a sarcastic suggestion to 'us'.

By the way what sort of response were you aiming for with this post?.

There are trophies awarded at the genesis tourneys, unfortunatly at the last one someone forgot to order them or collect them from the supplier. The result of this was that 3 styrofoam soup cups were handed out instead.

But the trophies will be at the next event to replace the cups - assuming the teams have saved them as they need them to complete the exchange.

Am I missing something here or is this a completely pointless thread. The original poster either has an adgenda or is completely misinformed, or both.

How is the tournament half a day.

Whatever the reasons, it isn't a thread worthy of the Genesis board.

Genesis is designed to give walkon players, big game players and tournament players the best in paintball venues and value for money.

So that's where it went......

Seriously though, £30 per player ain't bad for a tourney entrance fee - it used to be that 14+ years ago - soooo if you takes inflation into account it's actually a fair bit cheaper.....(and less than the cost of a night on the p*ss)

Yup you've got paint to pay for but compared to £75 a case (back to the good o'l days again) it's a feckin bargain comparatively

As other folk have said on the thread - give Genesis tourneys a go - unless u've tried it ur not really in a position to make an informed comment...

...just my 2p worth

cya in the middle!

Tell you what, when I played tourny, it was £30 entry and £120 per box of 2000.

£150 for the day. We played every month. Back then there where more teams North of the M62 than there are in the country now. You could choose from 8 or 9 tournies to play every week if you were prepared to travel.

The quality of the events was much better back then, as was the value for money.

Genesis will bring this back and more!!
