Tournies at Campaign

HI everyone,

We have decided to postpone the Genesis tournies at Campaign until the Autumn. The Walk Ons will Continue every month as planned.

As you can appreciate we are trying to revitalise a scene which has all but died in the south and at this stage we need to develop the walk on scene a bit more and get more players out there that want to compete.

The old days of The Campaign PGI 5 Man events saw 60 teams at each event, we will get there again.

Sorry the the (very) few who wanted to play at the end of the month, but have faith in the fat bloke, I did it once and I'll do it again.............eventually.

i`ve just managed to get a team together and this happens, the campaign site made it possible to take part in a genesis event. we were looking forward to the 28th date for our first try at genesis but now thats not going to happen! thanks campaign.

ps, does any members out there no if any sites in the south east would be able to run a genesis event on the dates allocated for campaign?

Thanks for the intrest BGH.

Genesis is still in it's infancy and we need to make sure things are right before we put on events. At the moment there are very few woodland tournament teams in the country, the North has by far the most but Genesis has been running up here for a bit longer than in the south.

There arn't any sites in the South running any woodland events, this is the whole point.

The teams will come from 2 places, walkon players who want a more competition, and SupAir players who are sick of the lack of value for money. We are concentrating on the walkon players who want that bit more. So for teams to develope, there needs to be top quality walkon events for a few months, this is especially true for the South of England.

Now I would think there are a good number of people who don't know of the reputation of Campaign and Niall Squire. Niall is very keen to make everything perfect when it comes to woodland tournaments.

If you have seen paintball on the TV it was probably done at Campaign. You may have heard of the Millenium Series where up to 150 teams compete from all over the world, the last few held at Crystal Pallace in London, that was Niall and Campaign. Niall is no stranger to putting on the best in Paintball.

Having spoken to Niall, the idea in the South is to put on a few more walkon's and raise interest, then to start the Competitions later in the year. This is most definately the way to do things, rather than to run a small competition just for the sake of it.

When the first tourny is held at Campaign you can rest assured that it will set the standard for quality.

In the meantime how about supporting the walkon's at Campaign, there is one there this weekend, it is a Genesis Walkon. Have a chat with Niall and the people at Campaign, If we know that the interest is there sooner rather than later it could become viable to bring the dates for the competitions forward.

I hope this explains things a bit better. Remember the name Genesis, it is a very good indicator as to what we are trying to do, it is the re birth of woodland events in the UK.

To give you some idea of how things will be, in 1991/2 there were at least 500 7 man teams in the UK. There were tournaments going on all over the UK and you could choose from a number on the same weekend. This will happen again. It is much cheaper to play now and there are many more products available.

This will happen again, the new teams now will be the future UK champions.

Hope this goes some way to explaining the reasons for the decisions made.
