if there are leaks, degas the marker by removing the bottle and have a look here :
    http://www.zdspb.com/tech/mguide/ion...neumatics.html

This is what I was trying to do. But when I increase it, the air just flows out of the barrel. It barely gets to 20psi as the more and open it, the higher the psi goes and the faster the air comes out the barrel. There are no leaks in the reg and it must be something to do with the bolt at the top as it properly comes all the way forward and I've never experienced the air to just flow out like this.

Thank you for your help by the way.

You need to strip the marker down, some orings may need changing, or just lube. The reason why it is leaking through the bolt and barrel.
Have a look on line, there are vids showing you how to take Ions apart, just becareful not to damage anything in the process.

Hey guys ust want to add a quick question on the end of this thread.... I also have an ION all working fine last time I was using it (Over a year ago) anyway my question is:
What type / size of O-Rings should I buy for spares? Also any good cheap places to buy from?

I'm wanting to get back into the sport and am going to strip and make sure all is working before I turn up and nothing works....lol

    Thanks

    Check the o-ring sizes here:
    http://www.zdspb.com/tech/misc/resources/orings.html
Then you can get the sizes you require from someone such as polymax:

    http://www.polymax.co.uk/acatalog/O-...m_Polymax.html
But also look out for dealers with 'gog' parts, as that is the new name for smart parts

Re: Smart Parts Ion Problem :(

hey,,you could just ring us here at smartparts paintball uk...01622850095..ask for gommie

as for the problem with this ion...you dont tell what battery your using or even if you have tested the battery to even see if its ok..
or to make things really simple as long as the baords ok..ie you have not burned it out from leaving the battery in the grip frame..

you can just send it down to us..we only charge 25 quid for a full serivce...and that includes return post..

the ion is a good marker..will run and out gun a lot of markers that cost a hell of a lot more...
dont waist your ion...make it work for you.. they really are very good markers
